Can't wait for Probst's twist next season where the jury gets to participate in tribal council.

If I start to worry that a blindside means everything I've done/said will be revealed to the other remaining players, I'm less likely to blindside. This would encourage less drama/blindsides, which I think is counter to what they want.

Was it really that bad? And I'm no Drea fan.

"Lindsay I'm rooting for you, you know why."

"Jonathan, believe it or not, you were never on my radar. But you were always after me."

"Mike, if you make it to the end, you'll probably win." This has been said multiple times in the past by a leaving Survivor to someone still in the game. Hell, leaving Survivor jury members have straight up said who has their vote. Mike, then said it was the kiss of death lmao.

"Romeo, you've been on the block every time." Everyone also already knew this.

"Omar, you're the only person I told my secret to and I want everyone else to know that." This is the most questionable statement, and seems to be what people are most upset about. But Mike and Lindsay already knew this to be true, so it was only a revelation to Jonathan, Maryanne, and Romeo, and something like this is probably coming out at camp when they return, anyways. Granted, Drea didn't know that Lindsay knew at the time. When someone gets blindsided, most people are aware of what happened pretty quickly. Romeo is probably the only one who would continue to be confused without explanation lol.

"Maryanne, keep being you babe."

I really don't think she said anything that bad, and it seems like you guys are mostly arguing about what future players are going to potentially start doing. Meh.

No one except maybe Omar and Romeo seemed bothered by what she was saying.

The trick - as it has always been - is to blindside someone without blood on your hands.

This seems like it might cut down on the backing down in the post action which would probably improve matters.

Have any of these off-shoot countries done a cold-weather Survivor. It seems like something they should at least attempt.
Survivor: Norway or whatever

Not Survivor but we did a show here in the Uk called Castaway where 36 contestants were marooned on a remote Scottish Island for a whole year

Back when I first saw commercials for Season 1 of Survivor, I envisioned something more along the lines of 'Alone' from the History Channel where people tapped themselves out instead of being voted out. But the cold and lack of food is a key element to getting people to tap themselves out. They say they miss their families, and I'm sure they do, but the real issue is they are cold and they need to eat some food.

People would just stay through frost bite and lose their limbs

When people are super cold they tend not to do anything but huddle together in camp, so it would make for more boring TV as well as being way more risky for production.

Alone is done only by trained survival experts that have to even do a tryout to get cast showing they have skills. Simply for liability reasons alone, no way CBS would do anything even remotely close with a group of random people.

Now, something like Alone (so all survivalists) but in groups of say four people where they have to vote each other out and compete - I could get behind that.

Maybe combine it with Naked and Afraid?

Just merge Naked and Afraid, Survivor and Alone and call it NASA.

Damn copyright infringements.

Naked Shambo and Tarzan. And for that reason I'm out.

I love the XL challenges, but those naked and afraid people are legit insane. Not competing for a million or even half a million. Just want to see if they can survive naked in a rain forest complete with a million disease carrying bugs for 40-60 days. No thanks.

Anybody watch the new show "The Snake in the Grass"? USA network. First episode had Survivors Yul, Malcolm, Earl, and Jeff from Naked and Afraid.

Spoiler Alert:

Spoiler:
Survivors are snakes.

There's four players. One of them is the snake. They do a couple challenges to try to win clues about who the snake is. Snake tries to sabotage. At the end they have to say who they think the snake is. If the three non-snakes guess correctly they win 100K, if they guess incorrectly, the snake wins 100k.

Watching all-stars right now. Old school survivor is so raw.

Looking forward to the new season in September.

Didn't find this very strong. Just a watered down version of the Mole.

It didn't help though that I successfully clocked who the snake was about 5 minutes in

I'm binging Survivor South Africa at the moment.

Few things sticking out compared to modern Usa Survivor

1) How stale the challenges have become in Usa Survivor (I believe season 42 featured 0 new challenges)

2) How the editors explain 'why x lost' before every tribal council rather than trying to blindside the audience every time. While it can make for boring tribal councils, at least its telling a much clearer narrative which is often lost in the modern advantage filled Usa game

3) Survivor 41 and 42 while having a diverse cast in terms of race/sexuality was very un-diverse in terms of being packed full of the nerdy strategist super fan archetype. I find it far more entertaining having the majority of the cast not knowing the game back to front with one or two super fans sprinkled in. 9 times out of 10 bad gameplay makes for better tv than good gameplay. (a bit like how I find the main event more entertaining than the average super high roller)

Fully disagree. I much prefer the entertainment value of high quality play than watching idiots be idiots. I also would rather watch professional athletes play a sport than average joes playing pick up bball.

I’m with DD. And to take it a step further, I much prefer seasons with returning players, even the seasons with only a couple, than seasons with complete randos. Hell, even Island of the Idols was enhanced a lot by having Rob and Sandra as mentors.

I’ve accepted new school Survivor for what it is, but the last two seasons have just been meh. I’ve enjoyed them enough to watch live, but I doubt I’d ever rewatch.

Especially following a season like WaW, which is in contention for GOAT season. Plus, there was an extra long break between WaW and 41.

Hoping for season 45, they do a returning player season. Definitely not happening for 43, and I’m guessing not likely for 44.
