so returnees are probably shan, xander, deshawn, naseer and ricard, right?

Those are the top 5.
I think we could see Liana. Maybe in like 9-10 years.
Whenever they cast the super young people, that is my prediction. We’ll see Michael Yerger when he’s in a different chapter of life. Same with her, though there is no reason to see them right away

In terms of boot order and what season I could see them come back on

Abraham - Never being asked back
Sara - Never being asked back
Voce - Never being asked back
Broccoli Brad - Would be top of my wish list if they ever did an early boots season. (second being Zane)
JD - Could see him being on a 2nd chance ballot
Genie - Never being asked back
Sydney - Could see her being a villain on heroes vs villains 2
Tiffany - Maybe on a 2nd chance ballot
Naseer - Could see him being lobbed on some random returnee season. Would easily slot onto a heroes tribe
Evie - 2nd chance ballot
Shan - Lock if she ever wants to return. Productions golden girl
Liana - Could see her and Xander coming back together if they did a rivals season
Danny - Seems clear he doesn't want to play again after the hourglass twist
Ricard - Lock if he wants to play again
Heather - Never being asked back
Xander - See above for Liana, or on a second chance ballot
Deshawn - Second chance ballot
Erika - Either another weird game changers like season or Winners at War 2 in a million years time

Has Danny been that vocal about the twist?

I haven't listened to his exit interviews but heard second hand from Tarans podcast that there was a lot more moaning at Jeff at tribal than just what we saw in the episode, along with back at camp and that he had pretty much checked out of the game from that point onwards.

After all it wasn't a twist, just production straight up lying about the format of the game to its contestants

Last question, Danny: Would you ever play again?

Today, I don’t think so. That twist is really… it weighs on me a lot, and I don’t think that I’ll be able to put myself in a situation to be tricked and fooled and bamboozled in that way. I’d rather just stay home, chill out in my Jacuzzi and watch TV.

I'd feel the same way. Sydney must be absolutely fuming too.

We talk about people being 'screwed over' by twists all the time but Sydney (alongside the star of user name) are on the mount rushmore of that

As an athlete who is used to winning or losing based on performance, it must have really pissed Danny off.

Imagine winning the Super Bowl but before the trophy is presented you find out there's a "twist" and you actually lost.

I know it's just a TV show and it's all for entertainment, but that twist was indefensible honestly.

Would be hilarious if on the next season, Jeff outlined a challenge and right before it started, a contestant said "hold up Jeff - just to be clear, is this a real challenge or one you might hourglass away?".

During all the moaning I understand Jeff just said that we have taken the feedback on board and won't do it quite the same way moving forward.

I just have an image of Jeff frantically running back to the boardroom and informing the team that their planned season 42 twist idea where the individual immunity winner actually is voted out may cause some tension amongst the cast.

Wonder how much equity that hourglass twist cost Sydney? Even if she didn't end up winning this season, she likely would have had a chance to cement her rep as a villain and to be invited back for future seasons. Just in terms of screen time and reality-TV fame that could be monetized, it had to cost her a good amount. She was one of the only players from this season who seemed to embrace the villain role.

I enjoyed Sydney's comments on Heather after she got booted:

Quote:
Why do you say "no comment" on Heather?

Because we are not friends.

Why are you not friends?

Because she was very holier-than-thou, I would say. She's just such a know-it-all. You can't say anything without her [making] the conversation about herself. I would say, like, "Oh, pretty rock." She'd be like, "Oh, that rock reminds me of the rock me and Bubba used to go fishing on." I'm like, "Okay, well, Bubba would be really upset right now because every time you cast the f---ing reel, you come back with f---ing nothing." Or you say "toothpick," And it's like, "Oh my husband, Jay, he's an ophthalmologist. And he says if you stab a guy with a toothpick you're going to go blind." So I'm just like, "I wanna go f---ing kill myself."

I don't think she is ever winning but I think she had a really good chance of having an Angelina type final three run and and with it an almost lock to return as a female villain.

Believe 3rd place gets $50k too

Edit - we often talk about Survivor like 'playing for the win' is the optimal thing to do financially but there is definitely value in turning yourself into a goat on purpose. Sort of what Coach and Phillip Shephard did to some degree

Sandra is on Survivor AUS. I don't love the franchise because the editing is horrendous with frankenbites but I'm interested to see how she goes. She's already bested Russell's humiliating stint so I guess that's one more point in the Sandra is better than Russell column.

TBH having watched the first two episodes I'm more excited about her daughter. She seems like a potentially great player at least the way it's presented. Like a less angry Sandra who is more social and not garbage at the challenges.

Same - curious to know how Sandra-spawn performs, but I have zero interest in watching another AUS season (though AUS S3 + S4 are better than a lot of US seasons imo, even with their WTF-level twists).

There seem to be quite few Sandra Fanboys asking her for insights and such. She is planning on how to best manipulate them to her advantage in confessionals. \most are aware of her ... and she came in on a helicopter.

Less than a month to go for Season 42. I'm excited.

Always enjoy a new season but given that they filmed B2B with S41, I suspect most of the "too many advantages and twists" stuff from S41 will still be there since they didn't have time to gauge the feedback.

Pretty confident we won't see a turn back time twist after Danny lectured Probst in real time about it at least.

Hopefully we can also get back to the gameplay being the focus and not how survivor will save society as a whole.

Actually this might make it more interesting. The season being filmed without any feedback from viewers means we get a bit of insight into what the producers think worked and didn't directly.

Hoping that the turn back time twist and the stupid trifold idol are gone.

I think they are very keen to have another Black woman win since it's been 20 years since the last one won, and in Chanelle and Drea they've definitely got a couple who have the potential to do so. There's some obvious dead money in this cast but some people who look like they might be big villains too.

I really worry for the future of this franchise now.

Whats going to make s42 distinguishable from s41?

Its the same location, the same terrible twists, 3 tribes of 6 again and no theme.

Ultimately I don't think there was much about s41 that will stick long in my memory. Essentially when I think of the season now 'I like what you said about the broccoli' is what i remember the most, which says it all

I'm kind of in the same boat. I used to really dislike how long and drawn out the family visit stuff was, but even I have to admit it felt weird not to have one, and I'm guessing there won't be one this time as well. The ace up their sleeve is the ability to resort to a returning players season, which if I had to guess is where they'll go ASAP if the show starts to lose steam ratings-wise.
