They probably think they might be able to swing ANY of the others if necessary, while they could never swing fillup! Also, getting someone to vote fillup right then and there is the easiest sell...as I've said all along. I would think they might have had some shot at Erik's vote when he voted Corrine if Phillip had been the target at that time. And if not then, then perhaps last week when they chose to target Andrea.

Yea they fluah out idols but for the risk of going home? 100% andrea will start making moves diverting from the 4-3 split.

If they really wanted too, play both idols anyway, but nake sure the whole tribe knows you have them pre tribal so they can have time to discuss. They may still end up splitting but guaranteed word gets around that x wants y gone and that cause future problema the 3 amigos can work with
Couldn't disagree more. The way they did it was ideal, because it created panic and had people sharing their true feelings in front of everyone. I assume starting next episode they will use what was said in panic to gain numbers/power.

The only thing I think they should have done different was say they were putting the votes on Cochran and then vote for someone else. Cochran would have started scrambling like mad and it would cause max damage, especially after you vote someone else out.

They should have thrown a few names out there. "Maybe it's Cochran. Maybe Andrea. Maybe the Special Agent." Then watched them scramble.

They obviously changed the rule, but I'd like to know when the change got made. Malcolm was actively looking for the 2nd idol so obviously he knew that the rule was changed. The question is was it prior to the season or was it during the season when it looked like the 3 amigos were in trouble?

By doing at TC, they were able to create cracks in the alliance

interesting to see what happens with Sherri next week

I am confused why people think there are set in stone rules regarding idols, i have never seen them listed anywhere. Traditions are not rules

All Malcolm or 1 of the br0s need to do is approach Andrea in private after TC and tell her that they heard the other members whispering her name in the confusion, whether they actually heard it or not

There should be plenty of follow up opportunities available for the br0s to take advantage of when they get back to the beach, including playing up Andrea's sense of paranoia

Malcolm hurt his chances at Phillip's vote by saying he sucked the fun out of the Survivor experience. Early in the episode, Phillip was fantasizing about his chances, saying he could win if there was a non-bitter jury. ...So, I'd be surprised if he's non-bitter about having his game ended in this fashion.

The social dynamics of that were pretty interesting. All seven were a little bit afraid of going home, so the "safest" thing to do for all of them was to start whispering about the least-liked person in the tribe. Phillip probably would've made the Final 3 again under normal circumstances, but everyone's true feelings came out in a hurry tonight.

And remember when like three episodes ago everyone in this thread was like "I'm never going to believe Probst again when he says a season is good?" It's delivering.

Malcolm just needs to casually mention Boston Rob a few times at ftc and he will be fine.

Or even better, just tell Phillip that he targeted him cause he was obviously running things and was also the biggest challenge threat.

So glad to see the;

Most delusional
Biggest scumbag
Least entertaining
Most worthless
Worst player off all time

Gone.

After this ep it's undebateable, like gravity, Phillip is the single worst player to ever play survivor.

Somewhere in the world Russell Hantz is on turbo tilt right now...Malcolm has undoubtedly taken over the reigns as the new golden child of Survivor for this new era.

he's having a twitter argument with Rupert and Jim Rice about idol hiding policy after the merge

Russell Hantz ‏@russellhantz
@jamesloganrice @rupertboneham Maybe not in your season but 2 idols were in play at the merge in season 19!! So I guess you just got f*cked

James Logan Rice III ‏@jamesloganrice
wrong hantz. No idols came back into play during South Pacific after Ozzy played his post merge. #iwish! @russellhantz @RupertBoneham

All of this about the second idol: It's been a long time since we've seen anyone FIND a second idol after merge. How do we know the idols haven't been hidden and the castaways made the same bad assumption many here did? Or they looked and just didn't find it?

WTF were Dawn and Andrea, etc watching Malcolm look for idols instead of looking themselves?!?!

Russell vs. Malcom coming soon obviously.

What if they had waited for them to scramble by not telling them about the second idol, play both and split the votes across three of the top of SRU? So Maybe you go Dawn Andrea and Phillip or whatever you deem most effective and let everybody try to sort it out during the revote, to blow it up from the inside?

that could be a great idea for maximum confusion and paranoia

I would just make sure to include Cochran in the group of 3
