I'll agree that top 3 is probably too high, but barely cracking the top 25? Come on now. Tony played an awesome game this season and was clearly playing one of the most thought-out, strategic games we've ever seen. I'd be very interested to see 20+ players that you think play Survivor better than Tony

I have 16 off the top of my head who I would 100% bet my life on if it was a choice between them and Tony to win a random season and I'm sure I'm forgetting some notables. In no particular order...

I really disagree with some of those "hero picks" (you know who I mean when I say this)

But maybe that's because I'm approaching that from a perspective of: If Tony was in a random first time season with one of those, who'd stand the better chance? And in such a scenario I'd side with Tony over people such as

I agree with about half of your list... if you place Tony as a random winning season, why not others? Especially since some of them already have returned and failed miserably against the GOAT on HvV.
As the season began, I thought Tony was reckless and bit off more than he could chew. As it went along, he was the only one playing the game besides Spencer and deserved to win. I became a fan and am still eating crow.

Tony has a very underrated social game, and a strong strategic game to go with it. If I'm looking at your list thinking "who's gonna get who first?" then I think Tony has excellent chances to outlast the majority of your list, simply because they aren't strategically savvy enough. I definitely like Boston Rob and Kim's chances over Tony's, and I definitely like Tony's chances over Earl, Danni, Denise, JT, and Tom. The rest of the list is somewhere roughly on par with Tony in my mind.

Had this in notepad before catching up after vtc's post.

Parv, cirie, hatch, earl, Todd, Tom w, JT, Stephen, Kim, Cochran, Sophie, rob c, rob m, Brian,Yul, Tyson, aras and Malcolm. Perhaps he's better than some of these people but then there's a bunch of players with a ton of natural social/floater ability. The best 5-10 of these(at least) are very likely to do better, on average (lol variance above), than tony would, imo.

Ranking him 10-15th makes sense to me, but top 10 and top 5! do not.

Everyone would be fighting to have Malcolm as a pawn and Sophie/Kim/Parv/Candace would likely immediately form all girl alliance with Russell hanging on like a puppy.

I agree with everyone on cstone's list except Denise (and maybe Heidik given how the game has evolved). Tony's equity was better than Spencer's heading into this season, but I see Spencer being a better player after the experience and surpassing him in equity now (if they were to go back as "first timers" playing against randoms).

I'm very surprised at the people saying Tony has better equity in a random season than JT.

Then again - I kind of agree with an observation Cochran made on the RHAP pre-finale show about how this season has such raw emotional roller-coasters that you only see with an all first-timer season.

On a random season and without prior knowledge of each other I think Tony beats almost everyone on your list Colin but I don't know if he wins those seasons. The thing about Tony is that he is making the first move every time. A lot of people on that list are more inclined to keep control and make alliances within the main alliance. If they had Tony in their alliance it would be very likely that they would be voted out before they even consider making a move on Tony just because it is hard to predict that sort of aggressiveness.

Sorry if I was unclear, the people on the list aren't playing in a season against Tony in this hypothetical, that's just the list of people I'd select to convert a win with my life on the line before I chose Tony. I agree that if it's Tony vs. Random Person From List that he probably recognizes them as his biggest threat and is often quicker to the kill than many of those I named.

You mean more likable? I'm not sure how we can say Spencer is good socially considering he orchestrated somewhere around 5% of the moves he tried to make. Wouldn't someone who was great socially have been able to create his own alliance once Tony started spazzing? Not locking in Jefra was particularly poor. I love Spencer, but even he acknolwedged that Tony outplayed him.

Any ranking of Spencer at a high level is mostly based on projection (and I say that as someone who would actually put him somewhat high, so I'm not knocking you), right? I'm fine with that, but to say he's definitely higher than Tony seems to mostly ignore what we saw the entire season.
