I remember skimming page 1 of this thread and everyone hating the show so I never started watching (I hold the OOTV consensus to a high standard). Apparently I'm in for a treat after all!

You really have to give it until about e5 of s1 for things to kick in. It takes that long for the viewer to understand/get used to the characters.

I've seen the first 6 eps of S1 now and the show is already great. And these are supposed to be the worst eps? Wow.

I've never understood so many people on here thinking the first few episodes are meh/bad. I liked it from the word go. That being said, somehow the show does get even better.

I'm 2/3rd through Season 2, and also loved it from the start.

I agree it gets better & better, but it's not like it turns from meh to GOAT for me. For me it turned from very good to amazing.

Yeah, was surprised to hear this take too.

I quit most shows after an episode or two. Knew this one was bingeworthy from the very beginning.

a friend recently recommended this to me and I just finished watching - unsurprisingly, I absolutely loved it, especially season 2

regarding those first few episodes, I don't really feel like they were bad as they were, it's just that their value depends on how the viewer percieves the show. As soon as you realise that the soapy and predictable drama is just a cover for brilliant satire, you will start enjoying the show, for me it happened circa episode 5 I think.

Interestingly, I kinda knew it was a satire from before watching, but really had to find the right angle for it to start working for me.

I’m three episodes in. First episode was an intro and the next two were pretty average. It’s been hard for me to get into but I trust that it will get better. I had to look it up on IMDb and those are the worst 3 rated episodes.

Watching S1 finale. It's so good, wtf. I don't know if I've ever watched a show where I'm constantly second-guessing everyone's motives this much. This is as good TV writing as it gets and apparently I haven't even seen the better season yet

All caught up. Got a feeling this show will be remembered as one of the all-time classics of the post-The Wire/Sopranos era, alongside The Leftovers and BrBa.

Sarah Snook (Shiv) is either the hottest non-hot actress or the least hot hot actress, I can't decide.

The only thing that felt a little out of place to me was Kendall's random shoplifting and randomly falling head over heels first with that Pierce family blonde, then the actress in back-to-back episodes. I have no idea what any of that meant -- were they trying to convey that Kendall acts irrationally and impulsively when he's on drugs? Or that he's just irrational/impulsive as a person? Either way what did any of that have to do with anything, weren't we shown the exact opposite of that with how he played his father? I get that he ditched the actress as soon as his father criticized her, but it doesn't explained what happened with the budding relationship with the blonde in the first place.

Also, why was Shiv such a dick to the senator when she resigned? Seemed like she was just randomly aggravated for no reason at all. Yes I get that she had the defining moment in the previous scene where she swallowed the Waystar Royco values hook, line and sinker, but why did she lash out so violently? I have no idea what grudges she was supposed to hold against him in the first place, and even if she did, it seemed really out of place with her character to burn bridges with the future president.

Those are really minor criticisms about an otherwise ~perfect show though, and maybe I just missed something.
