I interpreted this as, Roman starts having a meltdown and as a masochist, is soothed by pain. He's leaning into Kendall's shoulder and seems to be enjoying it.

Something I was curious about that I haven't seen mentioned: Karolina says to Shiv that she wants Hugo gone and then Tom is made ceo, Hugo comes up to him and Tom basically snubs him and asks where Karolina is. Were Tom and Shiv working together in some capacity or am I overthinking this? Seems like totally a very weird, superfluous scene otherwise

I think that came up when they were in Norway when Shiv initially talked with Matsson. When the deal was initially going through after Norway everyone but Tom, Gerri and Karolina were going to be fired and looks like he just did the same thing when it did eventually go through

Finally caught up on this season. Good watch.

Overall, the finale reminded me of those sonic games where you didn't get all the emeralds - you get the **** ending.

Didn't feel right and didn't feel earned to me personally. The season was good, great acting and dialogue and set pieces as usual, but the same problem was extant as in season 3 - stakes were kinda off.

Liked the choice with Logan dying early - death really is like that.. one day you get a call out of nowhere, and the next day someone isn't there. I think it paid off.

That said, trying to essentially replace Logan with Matsson did not work. Matsson was way too evil, just a **** really and with no redeeming factors, nor any explanation for being the way he was - just a bad guy to make you root for the less bad good guys. Skarsgard IMO did the best with what he was given but the character was a bit of an eyeroll for me.

I think they gummed up the last episodes by pitting Shiv against Ken - the clear ending required them all to team up and rise above. It became obvious to me that she was being betrayed near the last eps where she got really cocky - the show-writers were setting her up, so it's a really weird choice that after her betrayal she just went that way anyway - she (and the others) are such bitter and vindictive people - a last minute change of allegiance to her betrayers in the 15 minutes remaining doesn't make sense (perhaps I misunderstood something).

I don't really like Greg or Toms ending either - by ingratiating yourself to every person above you no matter what slimy length you sink to, you can get to the top. I believe it, but I just don't know if it befits the moral of this entire saga.

The best scenes were at the funeral with Ewans speech and Romans breakdown. I thought the crying at his own dads funeral thing played a bit heavy into the plot, but then again, a bunch of right wing zealots do tend to get their dicks pretty hard when they see another man cry, generally speaking, perpetuating the brand of toxic masculinity that many characters in the show engender.

Towards the end I actually found myself glad this show was ending - they cut it at exactly the right time which is no easy feat. Look forward to rewatching in 5-10 years.

This is very true and Con is a great character for this reason.

With only 2 episodes left and assuming each ep continues to take place over a single day, I'm not seeing some big resolution of all the plot threads.

I still think this has been an excellent season through mainly for the acting and the great dialogue. Which is really the main point of this show anyway, plot has always been secondary.
this as well

I did find it interesting that they made Mattson just as unserious as the rest of them. All a comment on capitalism i guess.

But Logan was fooled by him? Or he just thought anyone was clearly a better option than his moron kids

This is exactly the moral of the story. People get to power through all kinds of means (birth, playing the corporate game, deceit), and most of them have nothing to do with competence or ability. But it also makes it clear that "the top" isn't all sunshine and roses either.

Yeah, I know that of course, I watched celebrity survivor. Maybe that's why I found it unsatisfying.

this show is **** lol

im ashamed to say i watched every episode and enjoyed it. but the show is ****ing garbage. There are some very solid performances, and skilled writers, directors, composer... but jfc what a pos lol

it's an absurd soap opera. who is gonna lead the company? who is gonna betray/team up with who???? omg!!!

every episode is just like "kendall is gonna lead the company. no, it's shiv. no its rome" lol... for 4 years!

and even though we are supposed to see how warped and greedy they all are, we are also supposed to envy/worship them

and what's the lead actor's name? brian cox? he seems like a real ahole... i remember seeing some interview with him and he was so jealous that he turned down game of thrones and missed out on all that money... and of course any actor would. but the way he was, and to the degree he was. it made him seem like a jerk.

Shiv, Roman, and Tom all won last night and the show won for best TV series drama. Kind of cleaned up.

I think I agreed with pretty much all of the winners actually. I’d have preferred a few different ones but I can’t disagree with the choices.

honestly absurd that succession had 4 lead acting noms (including one to a guy who died at the start of ep 3 of 10 or whatever) and 4 supporting noms ... there are other shows jfc. i'd be sick if i was one of these ppl starring in show on screen like 90% of the time
