One subtle thing I noticed, which might have flown under the radar, is that Phil did 20 years inside.

?

I’ve watched the entire series several times and have no recollection of Phil doing any time in the can. Almost certain the show never references it, much less explicitly states it or how many years.

I can't tell, which of yous are being sarcastic.

He talks about how he wanted manicotti, but settled for grilled cheese on the radddiator. Talks about wanting to **** chicks, but blew his load in a kleenex instead.

Not only that but you have the episode of Blundetto, Feech and Phil where there is like a news cast saying these gangsters are coming out of jail after time served.

His golf skill level was never really described, but surely that has come up at a panel of some sort. I'll go 20 handicap. Not bad for a guy would have a heart attack after walking 9 holes.

Just realized rewatching that in the "executive game" Tony was backing Sil and Paulie. Although it is never said. After the game when they are counting the money they said they made 80k. Not possible to rake a game for that amount. Also Tony tells Davey later "If you had won I'd be the one cryin the blues." If Tony was just raking the game he could care less about who the winners and losers were. That leads me to conclude he was backing Sil and Paulies play.

I don't think the writers of the show appreciate that. I'm confident their intent was for the running of the game to produce that 80k even if it doesn't make sense to someone with an understanding of how a poker game works.

The Executive Game always seemed odd to me. Why would anyone want to play a high stakes poker game in some dumpy motel? It was supposed to be a classy event but they were serving cheap food and offering mediocre service.

the show is about the decline of the mafia and the decline of America. and how both are just a facade. so calling something the Executive game while playing with scumbags in a garbage facility is perfect really.

That seemed weird to me too. This is the executive game? A crappy motel and the lineup is Sinatra Jr, a doctor, Paulie, Sil and Johnny Sac?

We don't know that was the only line up, there may have been other whales playing but that was the line up for that night.

It was private and maybe the Sinatra Jr guy and the Dr didn't want to be seen in public being degenerates and playing for that kind of money.

I do it once every couple years.

My favorite scene is still Christopher's rant about how he's the real OG and Massive Genius is a fake gangster with a degree.
Bon Jovi playing in the background was perfect.

yeah it doesn't make much sense, feels like something chase remembered from the neighborhood when he was a kid. but decades later once all the casinos opened poker rooms etc i doubt ppl like frank jr and lawrence taylor are showing up at dumpy new jersey motels to play cards lol

Haven't played in a dumpy motel but a lot of underground games are in less than luxurious settings. The availability of public card rooms doesn't really matter to people who prefer not to play in public.

yeah lawrence taylor is probably terrified of being spotted at an atlantic city casino

Well they were getting the room for free after becoming silent partners in the motel after that son in law of the Rabbi guy was trying to shake him down and the Rabbi went to Tony for help. I can just imagine they probably got the whole level cleared out for the game so that no one knew what was going on in there

Tobin Bell as the military school faculty member was wild

Amazing pinch-hit, one episode appearance in the season 3 finale.

The season 4 finale has a similar plate appearance as Bruce Altman knocks a one episode role out of the park

To answer the prompt in the title, my favorite 1.5 seconds of the series is when Irina pronounces ‘Stugots’. Flawless
