Ralphie's kid catches an arrow. Ralphie is a mess. He questions everything. He talks to a priest! Ralphie! Rosalie Aprile visits the hospital, Ralphie sees her and immediately feels guilty for the way he treated her. Ralphie!

He's totally not himself.

Until...

He's in Tony's office, weeping uncontrollably. Tony decides that this would be a great time to tell him that he's seeing Valentina.

Ralph stops crying immediately. Promptly stands up, says goodbye, walks out....and proceeds directly to the stables to kill Tony's beloved horse.

We never see distraught, sympathetic, guilty Ralphie again.

Everyone knew Ralphie was gonna get wacked, it was bound to happen , we were just waiting for it and the one episode you wouldn't see it coming was with his son getting hurt.. Phenomenal

Breaking Bad fans talk about that moment when Walter White finally went too far, and they realized that he's not the hero, but actually the bad guy.

Tony hit that moment for me here:

VALENTINA: Tell me why we can't see each other.

TONY: I already took his *horse*...

Apples and oranges lol

I lost respect for Walt when he sent the old lady into his house to check if ppl were in there or there could of been a bomb, he turned into a dick

They try to make you hate Tony during the gambling loses episodes but that was short lived, at least for me lol he's the GOAT

One last note on Ralphie's last episode, copied from the Wikipedia page:

Quote:
Though not heard, the song Sympathy For The Devil by The Rolling Stones is referenced three times through various dialogue directly alluding to Ralph as the devil. Ralph to surgeon: "Please, allow me to introduce myself." Father Intintola to Ralph: "Were you there, when Jesus Christ had his moment of doubt and pain?" Tony to Paulie: "Paulie, his kid's in the hospital. A little ****in' sympathy, huh?". The references allude to the fact that Ralph in this episode for the first time is portrayed somewhat sympathetically.
It was hard to miss the priest crowbarring that line in, but I never realized it was more than a bad joke.

Now, that is what this thread is all about!

Nice find, very cool.

Spotted one last night, watching that episode where AJ loses his eyebrows. At the start of the episode, Tony is wearing a really wacky shirt.

Carmela is upset that Tony is indulging AJ, and she resents being forced to play "prison warden" with the kid. Throughout the episode, Tony is doing things like buying the kid a bright yellow SUV while he supposed to be studying with his tutor, while Carm is one who has to say no, you can't go to a concert and stay overnight in a hotel in the city.

Carm tries a few different approaches to get the kid to stop hating her, but he's not having any of it. Distraught, she finally relents and gives permission for the concert (but no hotel, he can stay at Meadow's instead).

The subtle moment: in the scene where she gives permission, she's wearing a tan shirt with horizontal black stripes on half the front, and vertical stripes on the other half, recalling the shirt we saw indulgent Tony wearing back in the first scene (sorry, can't find a pic of this one).

Another ep I saw this week, Janice won't stop whining about how exhausting it is being a housewife, with the cooking and the cleaning and the parenting. Then we see her life:

"Cooking" is picking up take-out at Vesuvio.
"Cleaning" is watching commercials for cleaning products (I legit LOL'd at that one).
"Parenting" is seeing overweight Bobby Jr making a chocolate milk in the kitchen, and simply taking it from him before he's had a sip. She dumps it down the sink, never once speaking to the kid or even acknowledging he's there.

While looking for that pic, from the episode "All Happy Families...", I learned this about the title, from Wiki:

Quote:
The episode's title is taken from the famous opening sentence of Leo Tolstoy's Anna Karenina: "All happy families are alike; every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way."[1] It refers to the breakup of the Soprano household.

It may also refer to the inner struggles within the Lupertazzi crime family following Carmine's death, as well as to internal strife within Tony's family with Feech La Manna.

Good last few posts.

Not exactly subtle but I always noticed tony wore a lot of black and white shirts. Not hard to deduce but still

A friend of mine watching the Sopranos said that the tissue paper in his therapy sessions depicts his mood a lot of the time. For example, if it's sticking up, he's happy, etc. I never noticed it before and haven't had a chance to go back and check it out. Anyone notice anything? Thoughts?

see in my opinion that kindv stuff is stupid n contrived.
ppl trying to find meaning in every little thing.

what on earth would be the point of that???

how on earth would that be justified artistically?
david chase gonna try to convince ppl "hey the tissue paper reacts to tony's energy".

dunno just seems so absurd.

yeah it's terrible. i doubt very much it's true and it would take effort to maintain it. maybe it's there, but i'm not gonna look at the damn box to figure out tony's mental state - i'm going to listen to him talk to melfi.

but what's the point?
if it was true that would mean someone had to physically adjust the tissues to match his mood and how would that be explained?

if someone did notice it and it turned out to be true how is that justified?
in terms of continuity what's the explanation?

who's adjusting the paper within the sopranos universe?
clearly no character is doing it so are we to believe there is a supernatural element to the story that is manipulating inanimate objects?

imo if it were found to always match tony's moods it would be a huge LOL and lower my respect for the show.

I watched Miami Vice umpteen times and always thought Gina was sexy

I watched Sopranos umpteen times and always thought Jeannie Cusamano was sexy.

Only realized last night that they are played by the same person. Mind Blown.

Question, Season Five: Uncle Jun gets a mistrial, he's released. They cut off his ankle bracelet in the courtroom.

I just watched In Camelot, where he's going to all the funerals he can, cuz the Feds have to let him out of the house for those. I thought he beat the rap? Seems obv they refiled the charges and will retry him, but I don't recall them making that clear.

Subtle Moment from this ep:

Tim Daly's TV writer character is introduced. Chrissy immediately sinks his claws into him like a predator and ruins his life in one episode.

In a poker scene, Daly bets it all on a lousy pair of tens, gets crushed by Vito's flush. "Wow," I thought. "That's different. You never see that in a poker scene. The two hands at showdown are usually more closely ranked--at least in the same ballpark."

I took it as a metaphor for this guy having no idea how he's about to get absolutely steamrolled by this family.
