Also didn't really get the business stuff with Chris and Silvio in that episode , seemed to be symbolic of what was going with tony and the new gf but not sure
Just caught the end of "Bust Out", Season Two. It made me realize that I haven't watched a single episode of this show in YEARS. It's time for a re-watch. But the reason I bumped this thread: Journey's "Wheel in the Sky" played over the closing credits. I remember reading that the band didn't want to sell HBO the rights to Don't Stop Believin' for the series' final scene, and David Chase met with them personally to convince them that that particular song was essential to the scene...and he did just that.
My question: anybody know what changed between Season Two and the end, as far as Journey is concerned?
Don't know, but I always loved the use of Wheel in the Sky.
We could probably make lots of posts talking about our favorite musical choices in the show.
Can't think of a show that uses music better. Kinks at the end of 'cold cuts' and Bob Dylan when AJ's in the car towards the end of season 6 immediately come to mind.
I also caught that ending - Wheel In the Sky is up there as one of my favorite Sopranos music moments. I loved 'World Destruction' by Afrika Bambaataa/Time Zone at the beginning of Season 4 as Tony walks down the driveway to get the paper. Didn't know the song at the time.

Yea World Destruction was one of my favorites. Our first re-introduction to Tony after like 16 months. This video would be much better if it started 10 seconds earlier but here it is:
My #1 would be Apollo 440 - Man With the Harmonica at the end of S4E9. Really felt like Tony had turned a bad corner after that episode and the music does a perfect job of evoking that feeling:
Basically you're an idiot if you ever skip the credits on a Sopranos episode. The music so often is meaningful to the episode or is foreshadowing something or is just plain awesome. I dislike Netflix's "auto-play the next episode" for the same reason.
Second every sentiment about the use of music in The Sopranos stated above, but the first example to come to mind for me is Evidently Chickentown by John Cooper Clarke late in the series' run.
**** was getting real at this point, and that track hammered home such an ominous vibe after Phil gave his Leonardo/Leotardo speech to the kids.
grunching so dunno if this has been mentioned. also dunno if its so subtle that only i know it but in the episode where chris' screenwriter friend from rehab plays in the poker game where he loses 57K the dealer was dealing from the bottom of the deck to vito (the guy who kept beating him).
That's a good one, never noticed it, did most people catch it?

These are so great, something very jarring about that style within the show.
I just really wanna hang out with Frank Vincent. I forget where I read it but I think it was Dematteo that said he's one of the funniest guys you'll ever meet and it's hard not to crack up around him.
He's got a website, if you want to buy his autograph. He'll personalize it with your name, then "Now go home and get your ****ing shine box!"
you seem to know this show inside and out.
was i seeing things with the bottom dealing?
was that intentional? were we supposed to believe he was being intentionally cheated? if so seems way to subtle for 99% of viewers to pick up on (tho mad props to my fiance who snap spotted it).

I never noticed it, haven't rewatched in a long long time, and don't own the DVDs so I can't go watch it now.
I keep putting off the next rewatch until I get the box set, because I want DVD commentaries and extras, which don't seem to exist when you buy the DVDs by the season....and the box set ain't cheap.

There are regular commentaries and extras on the discs as is. The complete box sets have 1 or more additional DVDs that would have some newer/different materials.
I don't know how to make a YouTube vid, but I can tape record the next time I call my own Italian mother. This is exactly how every phone conversation begins between us.
