Tony does his share too - in the same episode with the precipice at the crossroads, Tony says 'ying and yang' and '500 pound elephant in the room'. Little Carmine is way ahead in malapropisms per word though.

Man, HBO used to have a trailer that was about a 2-3 minute montage of these Sopranos malapropisms, but I can't find it anywhere. And I think it was almost entirely Tony and his crew, they were playing it with Little Carmine tied behind their back.

And "precipice of an enormous crossroads" is my fav ever. I remember howling the first time I heard it. Also recall Little C at the Cleaver pitch saying something like, "I have six titles under my subspecies."

(Oh, and I spent my whole life saying "ying and yang".)

Just saw another little Easter egg: gene brings in lunch for everyone at the bing and Vito grabs a hot dog with no bun or condiments at all and just takes a bite and walks off screen lol.

Anyone know where to download not fade away the chase/gandolfini movie that recently bombed

Thanks

Its funny i used to be addicted to the Soprano's in a unhealthy way, watched them too many times to remember and could recite the episode word for word in some cases. I stopped watching them until recently and watched most of season 5 and 6 again for the first time in a few years, it amazed me how much my opinion changed on Tony, I used to think he was a ok guy but after re watching it my whole opinion of him changed, he's horrible and just abuses everyone whenever he feels like in every situation.
Guess the older you get the more you notice these things, Still love the show though

Favorite episode - Pine Barrens

Fav scene - Pauli and chrissy in the woods, pauli on the phone to tony with a bad signal and tony's flipping out over the guy they killed telling them he's a green beret with the intierior ministry the phone cuts off and pauli tell chriisy the guy there looking for is a interior decorater, chrissy says"his house looked like ****"

Some of my favorite scenes are when the Soprano crew encounters other criminal organizations, and their experience and confidence comes through.

Tony and Paulie meet a group down in Miami:

Yea I used to think he was at heart just a decent guy in therapy. When I re-watch it, I'm expecting to see that he's just manipulating Melfi into making him feel better about himself and giving him good advice (and probably her happily going along with it at times).

I watched the Twilight Zone episode that connects with Kennedy and Heidi on Netflix. Verdict: pretty much what you'd expect, no need to watch it.

going through this series for the second time (I almost never watch TV shows more than once) and its scary how much I missed/how much stuff went over my head when I was watching The Sopranos when it was live when I was in high school. I actually think its the perfect TV show, and with all due respect to BB and The Wire, I think its the best of all time. Just an absolute perfect combination of realism, sublime acting, dark humor, tons of subtely, and the dream/coma stuff was pretty ballsy and original too.

Also now that im older its nice to be able to actually understand the deals and negotiations that go on. By the way they way tony negotioates is pretty funny; he and johnny sack will be like "50%" "**** you, 5%" "Thats ridiculous! 40% "7.5" And they settle at like 15.

Good to see The Sopranos getting a new wave of love in this thread. I've always thought it was in a league of its own. I saw The Wire got a nod on one of the big film lists recently, the BFI's maybe, a la The Decalogue.

If we're going down that path then for my money The Sopranos belongs in any list of the greatest productions of all time. The depth of characterisation is just about unparalleled in the world of tv/film.

"We're with the vipers" one of my favourite scenes as well, always lose it when I see chris and tony start cracking up.

Agreed, in my eyes sopranos is the absolute GOAT of any show/movie ever made. Can see why people would prefer the wire but I don't get anywhere near the same level of enjoyment from watching it. I've seen every episode of the sopranos a million times and it never gets old.

Love the scene when Chrissy and Pauli are arguing in the restaurant carpark over the bill and that waiter gets hit over the head with a rock and starts having a seizure, Pauili just stands over him with that look he always gets and says "He's ****ed up" then shoots him grabs the money in the bill and they both bolt, when there running away Chrissy shouts "thats my money pauli" there still arguing over the bill even after murdering a guy lol

Chris flips out on Artie moments before.... It didn't not happen just because or cus Tonys an ******* or anything

Also it's been a while since I watched episode 1, some of my re watches I started season 2

It's amazing about all the plot line ideas that began in the first episode

Chris cousins the D girl
The sad clown statement

Just lots of stuff mentioned in passing that became plot lines in the series

i love this scene, it's hilariously dark. The casual way Paulie shoots him like it's the absolute standard line in that spot.

I've seen Episode 1 a LOT, and I don't think Tony was being sarcastic. Insincere, perhaps, lying to Chris to get him to calm down--but not sarcastic, IMO.

just watched this scene. grotesquely out of place

I love during the commentary for an episode (maybe late season 3, not sure), Chase (I think) says during a slow pan-in on Carmela's face that "generally we frown on that kind of directing".

^^ I always thought my DVD was ****ed on that scene the way it slow down to a slop. I think whoever did it was trying to convey the feeling of wanting to get away from a situation and feeling like you cant run quiick enough maybe, like in a dream
It feels out of place to every single episode ever made
