Not subtle, but the episode where Junior shoots Tony was on today. Eugene hangs himself in the same episode and I never noticed before but he pisses himself when he does.

(I'm also hoping to get more Sopranos talk going!)

Here's another subtle Sopranos moment... I watched For All Debts Public and Private again the other day... sure enough, the husband of FBI agent Ciccerone is none other than Will Arnett!

Yes, I just started Arrested Developmenta couple of weeks ago. Did a double take... is G.O.B. on The Sopranos?!

I watched it too. Vito made fun of him for wearing a Members Only jacket. Eugene kills someone in a rest/food place so he can go to Florida but is later denied. Members Only guy (shoots) Tony in rest/food place.

Heh yea, IIRC GOB from AD and Omar from The Wire make appearances in back to back episodes.

I guess we can ask questions ITT too

What is the purpose of Tony stealing the Armani sunglasses from the store in s6e1? Just because he can or feels like it, or does he actually know/dislike the owner of the store or something?

I like how every time there's a doctor/hospital scene, they make a point to put an ethnic minority in there... the sexy undercover posing as Junior's nurse, the guy who they grill about Adrianna & Tony's crash, there was an Indian doctor at some point...

Ha never really thought about that, but yea turban guy, Asian chick who says Chrissy has a drug problem after he gets hurt "spraying for ants," the indian/middle eastern guy who tells Leotardo it's just gas, the black girl talking to Tony in the hospital about the Obijewe (**** if I manage to spell that right) saying, the guy giving Junior chemo that Kennedy says is a top guy.

Standout in my mind is the white nurse who tells Tony "losing some weight wouldn't hurt" after he gets snippy about things.

Been reading lots of mob books lately, looks like Tonys oration at Chrissys making took a lot from the first making ceremony ever recorded by an undercover, by George Fresolone in 1990...

You know why you're here. If you have any reservations, any concerns, if you don't want to be here, just say it and no hard feelings, we'll understand. But if you stay here, you become part of us, then you have to do the right thing. Here it's no bull****, plain English. This is a family, you stay with the family. This is the man right here. He's your family, I'm your family. We help each other. It's got to be within the family. No outsiders. Anybody approaches you, it's another place, another family, you report to your man, whoevers in charge.

Second half being said by another guy:

The family is supposed to be first. It's as simple as that. Before everybody else. Everybody, even your own family. Its not nice to say, but your own mother, father, sister, brother. If you can't make it, God forbid you get sick, got troubles, stuff like that, we all throw ourselves in that mess, we help each other out. That's the way it's got to be, it's got to stay within our family.

What books would you recommend? How is the Sammy Gravano one?

I'd probably start with The Valachi Papers unless you're not really interested in the older stuff, it covers the creation of the modern LCN with the formation of the commission and all that by Luciano. Valachi was the first major guy to flip and until him the government didn't even believe the mafia really existed. (This is also the book Tony held up in the bathroom in "The Test Dream" and said he'd done his homework to the cop).

Gravano book (Underboss) is a really good read as he was a badass and close to two pretty famous bosses being Castellano and Gotti.

Blood Oath is a good read about North Jersey stuff.

My favorite so far still is Murder Machine about the DeMeo crew of the Gambinos, chilling what absolute sick sociopaths they were.

one of my favorite quotes from the sopranos:
Chris: Did you ever think what a coincidence it is, that lou gehrig died of lou gehrig's disease?
Tony: You gonna make that same stupid joke every time that comes up?

Was just thinking of that scene the other day. Not gonna click the link though. I'll wait until I come across it naturally on my next go through (could be a while).

whatever bro cool story

in 46 long, when tony's mom's mushrooms are on fire, at the club when tony's on the phone, the looks on the face of the bartender guy trying to put the phone on hold for the other call, and chris smoking a cig just watching the entire thing go down is pretty damn funny. chris is really enjoying tony yelling at his mom to use the extinguisher and then call 911 and run outside.

My favorite quote is when Paulie visits Tony in the hospital and talks to him about how some guy they knew would always admire his arms. "He was half a *** but I was flattered nonetheless." Then he looks at his arms and says "Look at this **** T, it looks like an old woman's ****."

Tony didn't approve of his sister dating Ralph either, a couple seasons later. I believe Ralph was captain of Richie's crew, too. When Tony went over to Ralphie's place to confront him, Ralph first offers him coffee... and eggs!

btw has anyone ever tried making eggs with Ralph's secret ingredient?
Valentina was about to make Tony an omelette then she caught fire.

Adrianna made scrambled eggs for Chris shortly before she was killed, too.

if you watch real closely in the final scene, aj removes an egg from his mouth ala airplane! right before the cut to black

Onion ring batter typically contains eggs, and the family was eating onion rings right before the cut to black.

Wasn't it egg salad in Carmines mouth when he had his stroke (with the orange juice in front of him)?

Chris was also expecting Adriana to make him carbonara which is made from eggs and cheese when he got back from the cigarette run but she was actually in the hospital after the accident, allright sorry couldn't help it haha.

"So if you love me stir my eggs" could be stretched to have more meaning between Chris and Adriana but obviously this stuff is all reaching and just funny to extrapolate on, never thought of the Ralphie/Richie/Tony death connection before though.

Watching the final scene, I heard people say the onion rings represent receiving communion. Normally I'd just laugh at that, but Carmela does shove the entire onion ring in her mouth like a communion host. No way would a woman like Carmela normally eat an onion ring like that; she'd eat it in 2 bites.
