I loved those parts. Dustin is a dork. He can't suppress his need to correct people about unimportant nerd things, even when it's not appropriate.

the scenes with his mom were some of the best moments on any TV show

Dustin scenes are terrible bc his mumbling and lisp is really annoying.

But I don't believe dorks behave like that when they are in terrifying life or death situations and them and their friends' lives are on the line. They behave like Mike, Will and Lucas do.

That's what I mean by him destroying the atmosphere of the show.

Again the character itself is good and he would work really well in a sitcom show or a show about how 'Old Mr Crinkles Stole Our Slingshot', just not in this.

You can think that, but you be wrong.

When I heard there would be a second season, I was dubious, but it was as good, or better, than the first season.

Looks like there will probably be a third season, but they've said four is the max.

I thought Season 1 was better if I had to choose, but there was barely a dropoff. I think Season 1 gets the nod mainly because it was so fresh and new. It's hard to duplicate that magic, but they did.

One thing I thought throughout season 1 was that the monster was really weak. Like its just one thing, that's kind of like a bear, and can be beaten back by a teenager with a bat. This isn't necessarily a bad thing as it worked to the closed nature of the story in general, but it did mean there were obvious places future seasons could go.

Season 2 didn't have this at all. Suddenly there were a huge amount of those monsters and the big monster looking to take over etc.

I just wonder how they take that to another level in season 3 or if they go in another direction entirely. I don't think they've exactly written themselves in to a corner, but it's gonna require more creativity to go from 2 > 3 than it did to go from 1 > 2 (or I speculate 3 > 4).

Imo monster strength in s1 was just fine cause the protagonists were kids. Not the marines.

I thought Steve was for sure dying in season 2. If they didnt add new characters, that wouldve been a lock. but Bob took the mantle.

yeah, they threw a couple bread crumbs out there. like Billy sniped at Max that "youre the reason we had to move to this stupid town."

It never really paid off. They couldve made his dad one of the redshirts at the lab or something but there was barely enough time for Billy. let alone his father.

His between-the-legs layup was amazing

Dustin was the writers' go-to for expository dialogue in season 2. It made him an annoyance.

They did the Dustin-"demadogs" thing once too many. we got it the first time.

At least they dont do the Big Bang Theory thing where somehow the entire group of insuffrable nerds all get girlfriends. I liked the realism of him getting rejected by every girl at the dance.

I thought the first episode of s3 was terrible. Seems like a decent chance the show is played out, hope I’m proven wrong.

I loved the first episode, it was hilarious.

Overall the season was fantastic, probably on par with season 2, maybe slightly better.

Ssn 1 still untouchable.

Spoiler:
I am enjoying season three however I have a hard time getting past some of the failures of logic. For example, when they were in the hospital fighting the monster several doctors and nurses were shown incapacitated (seemingly dead) but yet life goes on normally in the town. This seems like it would be pretty big news.

At what point do the kids realize that the force they are facing is above their skill level and get someone else involved? This is a minor problem because I get the show is about kids fighting a dark force but come on people....get some adult help.

IDK if it needs a spoiler but just in case
Spoiler:
I think the hospital scene and the climax was the same night? Hospital-cabin mind search-mall.

i really liked 1 and 2, but this was the best season IMO. the mall was the best character.

i much prefer glitzy-mall-underground-lair-80s-cheese to weird-upside-down-forest-gobbling-in-the-pouring-rain.
