binged this over the last few days. Loved pretty much every minute of it.

All the characters were great, especially the kids. Eleven, Dustin, and Mr. Clarke were all fantastic characters.

Probably my favourite new show in the last few years along with Mr. Robot.

Spoiler:
really only complaint I have (and it's not even a complaint) is the overall incompetence/unrealistic nature of the government team. Inability to track down a few kids in a really small town. letting the sheriff walk on a few occasions after breaking into their lab.

but at the same time, that kinda made it appealing. It had the incompetent adult characters that you expect from a movie or show based around heroic children, yet it was still dark as all hell, very violent, and legitimately creepy/scary at points. it felt like a perfect mix of the kind of show we would enjoy as kids and the kinds of show we now would enjoy as adults

Probably my favorite netflix original show. It's been said throughout this thread but I will say it again, the kids were awesome.

The dialogue was cringe-worthy at times, too. It just wasn't well-written.

I did like David Harbour as the Sheriff. It was cool to see him in a lead role.

Not sure why they gave Mathew Modine Ted Danson's toupee, though. It was distracting.
This is it exactly. Would have been better with half the run time

LANDO! Eleven and Dustin were great. Obs there is going to be 2nd season. The skinny chick has to end up with Jonathan.

Emmy Rossum's little sister was my first thought as well.

Episodes 1-7 were fantastic imo. The finale was a massive letdown. I guess it's my fault for believing they could tie up so many loose ends in 45 mins. I'm looking forward to season 2.

Actually that is a great spot.

Elsewhere people are lamenting arcs.

thought it was a good show, but forgettable. kinda like super 8.

winona ryder and the missing kid's older brother were both pretty terrible acting-wise.

Just finished this up with my wife. Loved it. My wife couldn't wait to get the kids to bed so we could keep watching.

As others have said, the acting was great all around. I also thought the look of the show, the way it was shot, was fantastic.

My wife and I really liked the title font, too, and were trying to place where we've seen it before. She said Stephen King covers, I said it seemed like a "Choose Your Own Adventure" font. I looked it up and sure enough, the article I read cited both of those.

As someone who works as a background extra as a hobby, I will definitely be trying to get cast in Season 2, assuming it will be filmed in Georgia again. I never submitted for this season because it was an unknown project filming too far away from me. Might be the best production to come out of this state.

Interesting thing I read in an interview with the writers: the actress who played Barbara had never acted before. That's pretty awesome.

I liked this show. I thought it started stronger than it finished but still very good.

I really liked the tight rope walker/flea analogy from the science teacher.

I didn't get the Lando reference that kept getting mentioned - now I see it's Star Wars, but what was the tie in? (This seems minor so I didn't spoiler it.)

Yeah Lando sold out Han to Darth Vader so the kids kept using Lando to refer to the adults selling them out to the government.

They haven't actually officially announced it is picked up for season 2 (100% chance it is though). Creators seem to be talking as if it would be a continuation.

This was great and I think perfectly executed for what it was. Fun homage.

The story comes from the Montauk Project conspiracy theory. I liked the visuals, but they would probably have been even better on Long Island. Not totally sure why they changed the setting to Indiana from the originally intended Montauk; maybe to distance themselves creatively from "Area 51 East" and the 2015 documentary Montauk Chronicles. Probably easier and cheaper to shoot in Indiana or wherever they ended up shooting as well.

That makes sense; labor costs are lower in Eastern Europe.

Just finished the show last night. Watched it all in basically one sitting. I'm kind of OBSESSED. Was hoping to read theories

Same just did it all in 2 sittings really enjoyed it and was genuinely glued to the screen for quite a lot of it which is rare these days i find.

Last episode seemed a bit weak lost a bit of interest but overall 5/5 looking forward to the next season.

yeah, I haven't read a theory that would make me happy. So I'm probably better off not speculating anyway, I guess the one that seems to make the most sense is:
Spoiler:
11 having created the monster, obviously has the most clues with the character actually saying "I'm the monster", them dying together, the demigorgon being a monster that has two personalities that hate each other, them disappearing at the end together, etc.

I liked the D&D at the end though.

Spoiler:
"“That’s not it, is it?” says Dustin, “The campaign was way too short,” says Lucas, possibly referencing the show itself. “It was ten hours!” Mike replies, “But it doesn’t make any sense,” says Dustin. “What about the lost knight?” says one of them, maybe referencing the show’s anti-hero, Chief Hopper. “And the proud princess?” another says, possibly commenting on El. “And those weird flowers in the cave?” Will says, unconsciously talking about the Upside Down. “I don’t know, it’s…” Mike says before being interrupted. It’s a wonderful way to end a multi-faceted story, that’s what."
