However, if maCody doesn't sandbag the last challenge forcing everyone to stay on the island for another day he has failed.
What would have been the point? the campers proved that they weren't going to quit. Keeping everyone there an extra day would have been punishing himself just as much as them.
Weak finish, the campers didn't seem to make much of the fact they had no water for 2+ days, seems fishy to me...
Cody didn't need to actually do the poop in the water source, just telling them he had would have had the same affect, with no risk of punishment.
Crew would clearly have given them a new satellite phone, so why not just give them the box with it + flares back after they left it behind. Losing $100k is bad enough for the contestants, losing the flares hurts the show/viewers too much.
If they make the stays at each camp longer and the temptations further apart it might help the show, with no tents, making people build camp fast each move-day while allowing for true survival skills to make a difference.
Picking teams each challenge would have been more of a big deal if not for the obvious divides then choices this season.
yep. according to the show they literally had not had food or water FOR A WEEK and then the reaction to the temptation not being food is mild disappointment and they barely cared that there was a pitcher of water
I was kinda shocked they didn't sit and drink the whole pitcher of water at the temptation unless they were forced to leave but even then it would seem odd they wouldn't include whatever forced them out.
There is no reason for Macody to not make it to the helicopter in time. Alex and Gina wouldn't have had a way to quit earlier at that point. They would have had to wait til the next day to be picked up in a helicopter anyways if they quit overnight and that's the same exact way they would leave as victors so there is no reason to stop at that point.
If MaCody sits down 100 yds from the helicopter (or have makani go half way down the waterfall and stop) and refuses to move forward it is a blow to the campers mentally because they thought they were 100 yds from being done. After that the campers have the decision to flare out, have a helicopter come immediately (or in the morning) to pick them up and go home OR stay another night/day and see if MaCody is going to make you do half the final challenge again before stopping and making them stay another night (or continue doing this for 5 days).
I can't believe MaCody went the distance to poop in someone's drinking water, but wouldn't force the weaker campers to stay an extra day or two.

You can't just flare out and leave immediately if the helicopter is already leaving. You have to stay the night anyways. Plus they'd have to build a massive fire just to let them know they quit.
Remember in the middle of the season when Cody's boy popped a flare and had to sit there in the rain for over 8 hours? They won't get them in the middle of the night and if they wait til morning they don't have to repeat the journey. They're already there so it's just one more night of ****ty sleeping conditions for no reason.
I was really hoping that the final journey was going to be the most grueling one yet, and individual not as a group. Anyone who made it on time got their share of the money. Anyone who didn't got nothing.

Same. would have been much better

I thought that too, but if they really don't think they make it without the other, then 125k > 50%*150k.
They need 43% of making it without the other, for it to be worth it, which I think they have, so still.should have taken it, but at least it's reasonable not to if they really think otherwise.
I know this isn't survivor with voting, and these ppl are pretty dumb, but I think Macody could have easily got Gina to flip on Alex for a jar of peanut butter and water access.

What does flip mean in this sense? Like not talk to him?
Interesting idea. If they could have truly gotten her to flip, with the tent, and denied Alex sleeping in the tent (no tarp or anything), that probably would have done it.
