I liked the ep. Didn't do everything that great but it felt good to be watching fresh Stargate again. That break was way too long.

Either there is so much more to the event than what we have seen such as Rush bargaining his way to return
Maybe it's because I don't trust Rush but I wouldn't be surprised to see him working with the aliens or brainwashed in some way.

Yeah this.

Obv Rush came back way too fast. Ming Na's character is threatening to tilt me off the planet as well. That said it's still a good show and am looking forward to the rest of the season.

Lol at the guy turning down the pussy. Like really you're stuck on a ship for months and you're going to turn down a total fox like that?

I agree. I was pretty surprised that the first episode back and there he is again. That's ok though because I kind of like him.

This is the most unrealistic thing to ever happen in this show.

Agreed. Talking stones and space ships are more realistic than turning that down.

A good return episode, but the writers make some odd choices for a Sci Fi show, emphasizing smaller character bits over Big Plot Elements.

Getting Rush back so fast is one example, but also the whole aliens storyline could have been a multi-episode arc: (1) look aliens, (2) they have a big ship too, (3) can we communicate?, (4) they're attacking us!, (5) hey, they grabbed the cute young chick, (6) oh, we got her back. Instead, the aliens from this episode could just be a one-shot deus ex machina to return Rush to the ship (haven't looked for future episode spoilers). And the Space Battle was silly, but that's not really what the show is about.

I do like the ongoing tension between the civilians and military -- the whispers and suspicion of the Colonel in the first half of the ep were excellent -- and the little scenes about trying to get by on limited resources, e.g. the "tomatoes".

At some point, the characters are going to have to address the limited hook-up options situation. If you're realistically going to be stuck on the ship for years, people will start pairing up and you don't want to be left out or stuck with the left-overs. But, at this point, they're not all there yet mentally -- I suspect the time on ship has been longer for us due to the interrupted season than it has been for the characters.

Glad to have this show back.

Pretty good ep. Using the ships strengths (this week the shields) instead of having space battles like last week was an improvement.

Also, the original reason Young didnt want to show anyone the footage of Rush trying to frame him was because he planned on getting rid of rush and didnt want to draw suspicion. Now that Rush has told ppl that Young left him on the planet, isnt the best move to show everyone the footage?

Another good ep. Like the show's ability to do psychological character notes in between the big plot points.

For some reason, I keep expecting this show to be episodic and then get surprised that the characters have to keep dealing with the implications of decisions made in earlier episodes. Tough decisions seem to beget tough consequences on this show.

Because it's Stargate

Definitely quite the departure from SG1 and Atlantis, but I'm liking SGU a lot. They intended on taking the franchise in a different direction, and I think they are succeeding. Sure, the campy, lighthearted, episodic adventuring of the old shows was great, but after 15 seasons of that (SG1 - 10 and Atlantis - 5), I think it's a good move to branch out and try something different like they are doing with Universe.

I mean, trying the same old formula was part of the problem with Atlantis right? I liked Atlantis, but it always did have that feel of "This is just trying to be SG1 with different people."

Atlantis would have been better if they brought in a new enemy. 5 seasons of the same enemy and they still didnt defeat them (there is an SGA movie out sometime soon btw) briefly going via the Replicators (yawn, seen em, beat em). The SGA team was better than the second SG1 team that faced the Ori (fwiw i loved Farscape and having the two actors reunited was awesome, it just had a different flavour entirely though) and gave the orig SG1 team a run, esp when Daniel left for a while and they got the alien dude in to replace him. That might be down to the Ori being a ****ing terrible enemy and the stuff with King Arthur was just clownshoes stupid. I get why ppl truly hated how SG1 ended up.

Fwiw im not sold on the lack of episodic format of the show, as a huge SG fan having seen all SGA and most (like 99%) of SG1 i should love this show but im struggling to do so. Its good though, dont get me wrong, but i want shooting and explosions and killing aliens and saving the universe in the nick of time. When the show gets going properly with more Destiny exploration and the enemy comes in properly maybe ill come to love the show as much as i did SG1 and SGA.

I know they wont get it but this show needs a Teal'c/Ronon. Badass alien warriors ftw.

I've read recently that the SG1 and SGA movies are in real danger of not being made. They delayed making them because of the economy, and now they are worried that since there has been such a delay since the last SG1 movie that no one will want to watch them. Seems ridiculous since both SG1 movies were incredibly well received and they both stayed on Amazon's top selling DVD lists for like 6 months.

I'll be pissed if they don't make at least one more SG1 movie, the next one is supposed to be O'Neill centered (and there would be no Vala), i was really looking forward to seeing the old gang back together.

I'll be pretty disappointed of those movies don't get made. I'm a huge fan of SG1 and SGA.

Yeah. The shows deserve these movies. But at least its not as bad as Farscape had it. Im shocked someone didnt get murdered for the point they decided to cancel Farscape and the movie which took something ridic like 3 years to be made was still uber successful. Fans of cult shows, esp sci fi, will support the shows they loved.

They're still trying to get some Farscape webisodes made, but they are having a hard time getting funding.

First blah episode since this show came back. Like the writers were really going to leave people behind on that planet, but people who are all set to stay change their mind when Young comes down and just says please don't.

The scenes back on Destiny were more interesting with the characters knowing they missed out on the sunlight and being outside and fresh food while questioning their decisions not to go. Plus people we don't usually see interacting with each other. Eli and Ming-Na chilling and getting to know each other was kind of amusing. Maybe he'll get some after all.

No interest in the pregnancy storyline, meh. Maybe something will come of the Alien Column of Light (besides reminding me of NYC right after 9/11), but super-powerful aliens are not what this show needs. Overall, this episode felt like it hit the reset button at the end of the hour more than the recent string of episodes had.

First half of the ep was great, second half dropped off and the end was pretty terrible. The backstory of the pregnancy of TJ is an interesting twist and something to develop as the show goes on. Also she should wear her hair down all the time, waaaaaaaaaaaayyyyy hotter.

Dunno about needing a super powerful race of aliens but im glad they are starting to explore Destiny more. I want to see weird Ancient robots and other freaky tech they find in the ship. I also wanted them to go explore the column more, i mean you just would.

The idea of a race being able to create a star/planet is pretty cool.
Got to think we'll end up coming back to it somehow.
