I liked this episode as well, felt Star Trek while keeping with the ongoing story.

Must suck to be one of those people who didn't love this first half season arch. I thought they were going to go the super obvious way which would explain no mention of spore drive in future trek but then
Spoiler:
Are they in a new dimension?! That or they jumped thousands of years in the future. Not sure which way they are going with this but will happily watch when it comes back.

So

Spoiler:
My dude Tyler is actually Voq, right?

Spoilers for next season. Seriously!

Spoiler:
Yeah I made the mistake of checking out the Reddit. Never doing that again.
90% of the people there are obsessed with picking apart future storylines and Tyler =
Voq seems to be the consensus.

That and worst-timeline Captain are the two favourite theories.

For the record that is spoilers for the second half of this season. I made the mistake of reddit as well, hopefully the one you mention is not totally accurate.

Second half will be 5 or 6 episodes followed by a pretty long break (JAN19?) is what I thought I read for season 2. Unless you meant that all that will actually take place in season 2 not this January on the return.

I rewatched and I am happy to say(has to do with reddit theory)
Spoiler:
What I thought was possible voq surgery that theory, on slow mo and watching again looks just like straight up sex and torture with sharp tools. I don't think that was any kind of actual voq surgery. Now I think there could be some brain washing maybe and some implanting another persons mind over tylers I don't think Tyler is voq after surgery. Just straight BDSM crazy klingon torture sex.

Not a huge Star Trek fan, but I watched this over the last couple days and quite enjoyed it. Nothing super special, but I like the serialization, and the fact that it feels closer in spirit to Battlestar Galactica (one of my favorite shows ever) than a typical Star Trek show.

How they just let Dwight go was quite tilting though, and hugely inconsistent with the rest of the show's tone. Ridiculous and dumb, and more fitting for a sillier show like TNG.

Looking forward to watching more when it returns. Don't think I fully grasped the ending, but I guess I'll just see what happens and not worry too much.

Rewatch the end and pause it as Lorca is making the last jump on the screen of the captains chair. Might give you a hint

Jonathan Frakes is also going to be directing an episode when season 1 starts back up.

But hey it is at least typical Trek. Would rather they give a huge curve ball instead when they come back.

Thought I was going to hate it 5 minutes in seeing as how everything that was predictable ended up being the case mostly. They managed to flip it on its head and I have no idea where this is going.

Spoiler:
So Lorca 100% back to his own universe now imo. No chance everyone wants to back once they can. They could easily do Season 2 as the flip side of the jump with ISS Discovery in star fleet universe if they choose to.

Honestly I think this arc has a chance to be way better than 1st half of Season 1

Amazing

Spoiler:
All the mirror universe episodes are always awesome (seriously, go back and watch the Enterprise two-parter--that should have just been the entire series), I'm glad they just said **** it and are doing maybe a whole half season in the mirror universe.

Yes and it's the same Mirror Universe from the original series and DS9,
too, I believe. Empress Saito's granddaughter is Empress Georgiou, obv.

Do we really need spoilers here btw? Seems kinda dumb. No one in here reading the thread hasn't watched the episodes, especially four days after it's aired...

Besides it being very obvious who the emperor was, which I am glad they didn't it was a solid episode. Still not sure the direction they are going, Very curious about the meaning behind the spore scene at the end. Have some ideas though.
