Looks like a live action version of Mass Effect.

Is this just going to be one long story line or will they do the monster of the week mixed in with mythology.

I can't wait until they make a Star Trek show or movie where the ship doesn't blow up at some point.

Or a Fast & Furious movie where they sell all cars in the end instead of totaling them.

Great news! Star Trek I, II, VI, First Contact, Nemesis, Star Trek (2009), Star Trek Into Darkness have all been made!

As well as TOS, TNG, DS9, Voyager, and Enterprise, all of which appear to fit your requested criteria

for a minute i was really excited about this show. now, my expectations are rock bottom. total bs pos network garbage.

at it's best star trek is edgy, philosophical, thrilling, moving. i don't see this show being any of those

It has gotten quite a bit away from Gene Roddenberry's vision.

i think all the star trek shows had all of those elements at various points, even enterprise had all those elements.

i wouldn't be surprised if this new show had none of them. i know it's really just a wild guess though.

Maybe Seth McFarlane's "The Orville" will be all of that?

I remember a TNG episode where the ship blew up a whole bunch of times. It was only saved by a time loop.

The news is getting less great. Hollywood Reporter lists a bunch more, including more times on TNG and on Enterprise, so there's that.

The "bunch of others" was addressed in my posts. Yes, the tng enterprise blew up twice in alternate timelines, didn't count that as the ship was actually not blown up at the end of the episode

As someone who watched TNG as a child, this makes me very sad.

3 more days yo.

Episode 1 and 2 dropping, not full season like a lot of netflix shows.

So how the heck is this working? The premier is going to be broadcast on CBS Sunday? And then US Americans have to subscribe to CBS All Access to watch the rest?

so...doing some googling, apparently this show has a budget of 8.5 million dollars per episode for the first season? Which is enormous? Which begs the question of why is it being released on CBS All Access which ensures no one in USA#1 will watch it?

Thing is, maybe the ex-US Netflix deal paid for the show. So maybe CBS knows probably it will tank on CBS All Access and doesn't GAF because it's a freeroll and they can just licence the US rights to Netflix for subsequent seasons if it doesn't become CBS All Access' flagship show (lol).

Or maybe they're just ****ing morons.

Yeah I think that only dropping 2 episodes is probably an effort to get people to buy after the 1 week free trial. Will be interesting to see the numbers.

And when in doubt, the people being morons is a solid bet.

liked the ship and crew. Hated the new look of the Klingons, they should have just used the movie/TNG/DS9 Klingons. Also didn't like the extended Klingon conversations, if you're going to have a 5 minute all Klingon scene just have them speak English. Not interested in reading subtitles while the actors spit out lines in a literally made up language. TNG did that right, whenever Worf went on Klingon adventures they always spoke English, even if everyone was Klingon. Also was it just me or did they make Klingon even more guttural and annoying?

Loved the Captain, didn't like Mike's open insubordination on the bridge. Really didn't like Mike mutinying. This is the hero of the series? Bad! I'm not sure how Mike can come back from assaulting her commander and trying to act directly against her orders after she renders her unconscious. Mike should be thrown out the ****ing airlock. But hey I guess this follows in the footsteps of other horrible First Officers on Trek. Riker's open insubordination and total lack of ambition, Chipotle in Voyager who was a literal traitor and terrorist who was inexplicably made second in command. So standard I guess?

Pretty good on the whole though, will watch again.

I didn’t like it, everything felt forced and they were using special effects for the sake of itself and not to complement a story.

That being said I often don’t line up with what’s popular on this forum so I wouldn’t base your liking this on my opinion. Plenty of ST series have had rocky starts to go on to being much better too
