They also have some good shows. The online service is exactly the same thing as Hulu instead of putting stuff on Hulu they get all the profit.

Amazon, Netflix and Hulu all had large subscriber pools before they started producing original content.

Unless they are changing their model, CBS All-Access does not even make all past episodes of existing shows available when you pay for their service. I learned this when I was trying to get season 4 of Person of Interest after watching seasons 1-3 on Netflix.

The best case outcome of this is one season of awesome show with high production value with later seasons having their budget gutted due to lack of subscribers.

I suspect what most people will try to do is wait until the season is completed, then try to binge the season during a free trial. I also suspect that people are going to be very angry to learn they can't even watch all the episodes. They will then watch the episodes via other means.

This has complete failure written all over it.

Bryan Fuller the showrunner so yea like I said it doesn't mean its guaranteed to suck just because on CBS All Access. Nothing filmed yet but seems like a great choice.

LOL when's the last time CBS had a good show..... Mike and Molly is watchable, that Charlie sheen show was good when I was an alcoholic meanwhile sober it's fomulaic same **** over and over, I can't think of anything that would put confidence in any poor trecky's mind that this could turn out well.

This shoulda been on HBO, Showtime, ect. Anything but normal cable... coulda been epic.

Well we've done explorers on a ship, more explorers on a ship, a space station, a lost ship, and a group of explorers on a ship in a prequel. Seems like the multiple crews thing can have some interesting plot implications.

Meh. I think the strength of the show is the familiarity with the characters. First few eps are very rarely as good as those after (goes for TV in general)

One of the better seasons of any Star Trek series was (deep breath) Enterprise S3 in part because of the serialization. I'm assuming we aren't talking about a bunch of of different crews and are really talking about 2-3 ships/crews who's stories intertwine. That seems like a cool idea, depending obviously on how the story is carried out.

enterprise gets a bad wrap because it kinda sucked in season 1 and 2. but seasons 3 and 4 were great!

if the show had started off as strong as it ended up, it never would have gotten cancelled. and we might have even had another star trek show immediately after. but too many people dismissed it because of the weak start. it kinda killed the franchise for a while. it probably even cost the big star trek movies a couple hundred million in lost revenue.

the show takes place 10 years before tos and captain kirk. main character of the show is supposedly going to be "number one", a second in command woman. still no word on the cast. but bryan fuller said he's trying to work with actors he's worked with before. it would sick if he got hannibal to do it. that guy is a great actor!

actors id love to see that fuller has worked with:

ian mcshane
gillian anderson
emily browning
crispen glover
masi oka(hiro from heroes)
many patinkin
ellen muth(dead like me)

Hopefully we will see some interest call backs, like an 1701 Enterprise commanded by Pike and a female number 2. Apparently, Balance of Terror is a ''touchstone'' for this new series' story arc. Theories on what this means range from the deep seated bigotry subplot, the use of the antagonist's point of view, the Romulan/Federation Cold war that happened after the... hot war(?), or all of the above. Whatever the case, this is one of my favorite episodes and I'm am now officially hyped.

Not that big of a deal. Showrunner probably busy with his Starz show. Plus they don't even have a cast yet.

As a side note that IDK if it has been mentioned in this thread before, us in the rest of the world (that's literally every other country in planet Earth) will get this show in Netflix.

It's not the best, however if it's necessary to improve the effects and what not, I don't see much problems. Doubt many Star Trek fans would complain for cheap special effects, considering TOS and TNG, but new people who stumbled upon it on Netflix would have a higher standard.
