I love Star Trek, but there is no chance this will be successful. If I'm reading that article correctly, all episodes after the premiere will air on CBS All Access, which is a monthly subscription service. Only true fanatics are going to pay $5.99 per month when all they get is one Star Trek series plus a bunch of old CBS dreck.

Plus it's basically a network show, which means it's virtually guaranteed to suck.

the new star trek pilot "renegades" was pretty fun(if you're a star trek junkie who desperately shoots in trek right into the veins).

that article sucks. it doesn't anything about the show. it should at least say if it's related to the pilot renegades.

I saw that a new series was coming out, got super excited. Then I saw that they're putting it on some all access crap app (people do know you can get CBS in HD over the airwaves for ****ing free, right?).

I'm still excited, but there seems to be almost no chance for it to be fantastically good or have any longevity if it's relegated to some second fiddle app. I get it that Trek probably wouldn't garner a huge weekly TV audience -- it would have a much higher floor than most series, though -- but it sounds like they're dooming it from the get-go. They're basically begging for their main audience to just pirate it.

Just because its on CBS All A doesn't mean it will be bad. CBS doesn't have shows on Hulu like everyone so this seems like a move to get other people who's not already watching there stuff just like Netflix, Amazon, Hulu does.

I was super excited before I saw it was going direct to some crappy new app. Is it even going to have a normal budget? I don't get why they wouldn't air it on CBS, I'm sure the ratings would be good enough now a days to warrant it.

I read a while back they were kicking around ideas for a Star Trek NCIS/L&O type show along with a Medical Star Trek type show, I really hope they don't go that route.

it being released with a new streaming app may be a good thing. if they want it to be a flagship for promotion they'd be right to give it a big budget. the formula has worked great for netflix. who would give a **** about a new service if it was all bad/cheapo shows?

then again CBS makes a lot of weird artistic decisions that seem to turn me off, so idk. hopefully someone in the organization is smart enough to give them a big budget and not include a live studio audience

Absolutely. This is neither of them. CBS has some terrible TV shows (Some of the worst, most generic crap) so that combined with them putting it on a brand new app makes me worry.
