She was definitely the pinnacle of the SNL recurring 1/2 dimensional sketch character that has one or two go to catch phrases and is funny exactly the first time you see it, gets a familiar chuckle the second time you see it, and is then cringeworthy the next 1,000 times. Absolutely brutal for comedy, and for whatever we can complain about SNL now, it does seem like they currently have fewer recurring sketch characters than ever in the history of the show, which is a good thing.
Re: Melissa V, yes her voice is actually like that, and she is probably one of the most awkward human beings you've ever met. As long as they never make her play a straight character and always give her either an impression or way out there character that she can dive head first into, she'll be a good asset to the show (sort of the opposite approach as Pete Davidson, whose contributions to the show are virtually nonexistent outside of him doing stand up material behind the Update desk).
That was a funny comment about jacked up comic actors being unfunny, although I think Terry Crews is pretty damn good. He's definitely a good addition to whatever project he's in, even if the project itself is garbage.
