I thought the show was pretty good, but I didn't think Zooey was anything special. I don't think she fits well in this style of comedy.

Was finally impressed with something Abby Elliott did though! (very good Zooey parody imo)

Didn't like the Crab sketch, but didn't mind the letter writing or 30s newspaper sketch. The quirky sketch was inevitable, but could have been a lot worse.

Karmin's performance was better than Lana Del Rey. Pretty excited for Sleigh Bells next week, but have a feeling SarcasticRat and I will be the only people who liked them.

The dog was supposed to bark... I definitely don't think it was supposed to bark incessantly for the rest of the open, forcing Sudeikis to say "Live from New York it's Saturday night" over it.

It was pretty clear Sudeikis didn't expect the dog to keep barking for the entirety of the open.

great episode--awesome Linsanity open.

love maya rudolph, loved the monologue, liked every skit except the beyonce/jayz thing but even that had its moments.

musical act seemed atrociously bad---fast forwarded through both performances though and only listened for like 5 seconds

I love the show when the cast breaks character, many times. The Showcase sketch was hilarious.

I didn't like sleigh bells either. the sound was just bad. two electric guitars with the gain cranked up to 10 and no bass = the sound of static.

sketches were below average. I liked the lin one when the white guy made awkward race jokes.

Last night's episode was the best I've seen in a long while. Maya Rudolph killed it, no matter what sketch she was in. Nasim is looking like she's going to be an all-time great, imo.

I found that to be the only amusing part of the show (along with the open). I pretty much really dislike Rudolph though. Not sure why but she always bugged me. I might have given Up All Night more than 2 eps if it weren't for her but I figure that would suck no matter what.

Sleigh Bells is why they make DVRs with fast forward

I love Sleigh Bells and I love that they play as loud as possible at all times, but as seems to happen with EVERY SINGLE MUSICAL ACT ON SNL the sound mix was horrible. I'd bet there is a pretty clear inverse correlation between age and whether you like Sleigh Bells, but I'm glad 35 year olds itt like them.

37 and like Sleigh Bells. Didn't care for the SNL performance, but they are one of my bands of choice when grinding tables.

The Shocase sketch had me laughing my ass off, I haven't seen the cast break character like that in a long time.

The Lin open was funny too, "I hope Anthony likes some Chinese in his MSG" was such a funny damn line, gawd it's great.

I even liked the Beyonce and Jay-Z sketch too, I have no idea what Jay-Z sounds like but my wife says Pharoh sounds just like him, Armison as Prince cracks me up, and the Nikki Manaj girl(can't think of her name) was great.

I realized something obvious about Pharoah in the Jay-Z/Beyonce sketch, that I can't believe I hadn't noticed before. He can do great voicework, but he doesn't even try to capture any of the physicality of the people he is impersonating, he is a talented impressionist, but a horrible performer.

With Lohan hosting its going to be a ratings bonanza for SNL. Im actually intrigued

That Digital Short with the afros was WTF bad

The entire episode was bad. Lohan seemed very nervous and stiff and was struggling to remember her lines. Disappointing because she was very good in her previously hosted shows - much more confident and energetic. The plastic surgery was distracting as well. She has so much collagen in her lips she looked like Donald Duck.

I'm not hopeful about her "comeback". Even if she's clean and sober it just felt like she's lost it. Seemed like the SNL writers lost faith in her as well giving her essentially background roles in most of the sketches.

Ratings were huge though.

jus watched. awful. Lindsay was brutal, didn't sell anything and flubbed a ton of lines. she's toast.

Lindsay really wasn't that bad outside of the scared straight sketch where those weird, fast-paced lines seemed to really throw her and she was glued to the cue cards. They definitely hid her in the background of most sketches, but that's standard operating procedure for like half of SNL hosts. She looks weird though obv. The thing with her attempted "comeback" is that she was never particularly talented to begin with...

Hader killed it basically all night. I randomly enjoyed the Wiig housesitter sketch and the psychic awards show/disney real housewives bits were both pretty clever.

I did kinda like the radio station sketch

But the Afro thing is still burning a deep hole of awful in mind. It's so unfunny it's disturbing really.
