haven't watched snl in a long time but glad I happened across it.

great monologue and the 1st scene was okay!!

hopefully there'll be more goodness (and I catch the nip slip, i guess :P).

inb4 nip slip was in 1st scene =/

edit. gaga at piano>>gaga for me. Although I respect her theatrics/character then most mainstream pop singers

Agreed. Every skit they'd done before and the episode felt really stale.

I liked JT his first time on the show, but now it feels like he tries too hard to be funny, kinda like Jon Hamm.

Those are the two best hosts of the last five seasons. You would rather see...???

If you didn't find the JT/Hamm episodes funny, you just shouldn't watch the show. You will never be satisfied, so you're just wasting 90 minutes of your life.

Jon Hamm is awesome, JT is awesome.

This episode was OK, it just wasn't great and not nearly as good as all the chatter on facebook/twitter/other media suggests

I give both guys A+ for effort, but it's because they both try so hard I don't find them funny.

JT is a great host, but they have started playing his greatest hits when he hosts.

I can only think he was a last minute addition to the sketch, or they re-wrote his lines. Otherwise is was horrible.

definitely not, they were clearly going for the 2 black guys being criminals schtick

and all the hate Kenan gets, of the entire cast, he probably flubs his lines the least. he nearly never messes up. you may not find him really funny, but he's good at memorizing lines at least.

All that Kenan & Kel and Goodburger paying dividends obv.

And yeah, Pharoah is dead man walking unless Kenan leaves and they need a black guy.

Kenan may very well leave. been there 8 years already

Im surprised he hasnt left already. He isnt going to get any bigger on SNL yet he is good enough to get some movie roles on the back of his SNL work. Also i agree with him being one of the stronger performers, though im not sure if that is just cos the current cast is hard up on talent.

But yeah, Jay Pharaoh not being dropped would say a lot about how much they are struggling to find new talent cos he gets a couple skits a week and has never been impressive when not doing his four impressions (which arent amazing). There is only so many times you can have Will Smith on a weekly sketch show.

abby elliott needs to go, shes brought absolutely nothing to the show for 2 years now.

they aren't even trying to develop her.

They might keep Pharoah around to do Obama when Armisen leaves.

I think she has potential if they try to use her better.

This. If Armisen leaves, there is 0% chance Pharoah goes too. One of the main reasons he was brought on was to do Obama once Armisen is gone (or even before then, if they'd found a way to make a non-awkward transition.)

What sucks is that there are some very good Obama impersonators out there, including a super talented guy, Jordan Peele, who was on MadTV a few years ago. Incredibly talented guy, and he would be a fantastic addition to SNL, but Lorne is adamantly against casting people who have established themselves on any similar show (that's well known Obvously something like Lonely Island is just the kind of up and coming project Lorne loves to poach from). It is notoriously known that when a person was offered a part on MadTV, they were essentially killing any chance of ever being on SNL.

Anyway, unless they find someone immediately able to step into the Obamapression shoes, Pharoah's not going anywhere.

i feel like the current cast could be so f funny but they underachieve and dont take chances like the casts of yesteryear would.

Bump!

The premiere was pretty funny. I liked the "Tell your mother she's fat" sketch at the end.

Seth's hair looked dumb on WU.

"Who's on top?" was pure gold. As was Top Gun auditions and the sketch with Baldwin as the child psychologist was decent. None of the rest was all that memorable, but those three back to back to back was worth working through the rest of the ep.
