Next week will probably be awful with DeNiro. I'm expecting dry and monotone.

After 4 or 5 good seasons the decline started last year and continues. This year may rank as one of the low points in SNL history. They lost a lot of firepower with Fey, Pohler, Forte and Hammond stepping down and none of the newbs have stepped up. The Slate and Watkins firings were just strange - I thought both had good potential - more so than Abby Elliot who somehow remains. Pedrad is excellent and the fact she remains a featured player while Eilliot was moved up to the regular cast is a testament to the show's current struggles. Even the Lonely Island's Digital Shorts have lost their edge.
penelope was funny last night. Tbh it was prolly the first penelope sketch that got consistant laughs from me throughout the sketch.

Even though th show doesn't feel the same to me since Darrell Hamond left i still think this cast is pretty talented. It all comes down to the writing tho and since Seth Meyers took over as head writer the show has been a lot less consistantly funny. It saddens me to see one of the true gems of television digress in quality as hard as it has the last two seasons

Wires have you read "Live from new york" by. Tom Shales. If so i rly recommend any fan of snl read this book. The book is all told by ex-castmembers, ex-writers, ex staff and all current up to i think the Tina Fey years

caught up on this. Anne Hathaway is the best female host ive seen in ages. she could be a castmember.

Book is confirmed awesome. Will make you wish you were a young Akroyd or Murray though.

Agree that it's very good. I really enjoyed the conversational style.

Hathaway was great and did the best with the material she had. I am starting to think SNL is not designed to be watched week to week, since I don't know anyone who likes the recurring characters they do.

I don't know if I'm catching the gay or what but I find Hathaway's musical sketches to be great. I fiound this episode to be one of the best of this season but the first one she hosted was way better. I especially loved her mrs poppins skit

Well that would be a terrible idea. Wiig is normally solid.

Agree almost 100% Pudge but for for some inexplicable reason I think I could watch "What's Up With That" every week.

Lol. I remember that one. Supercalafragilistic is the medical term for a sexually transmitted terminal liver disease. That was a great sketch. I rewatched her episode from last year on Netflix and it was one of the best from last season as well. A good actor who is game for anything can make a mediocre sketch great. It's why I prefer they stay away from athletes and newsmakers. Sometimes they luck out and it works for a sketch or two but usually it's just awkward and the cast has to do all the heavy lifting.

However you can book it now. DeNiro is going to be awful

Lol @ fire Wiig.

There is a reason she is in 3/4 of all sketches.

+1 to this and everyone else's comments. Doesn't really pull any punches as far as how the network and production team clashed over creative freedom. Plus, it more or less confims the insane amount of coke that was done by the cast and writer's in the 70s.

So as you all know, im sexy now.

Gotta say i enjoy the Miley sketches, id prob enjoy them more if i knew thats how she sounds and what she says given i know her mainly from The Soup and hearing about stuff she is in, but as far as repeat sketches its good and as best i remember the first new repeat sketch this year.

ok i watched it a few more times and its pretty cool.

I just kindve got thrown off by how ridiculous/exaggerated the impression seems to be. I don't think I've ever heard miley talk on television so if she really does sound somewhat like this than yea, its pretty cool.

the theme song is a winner.

Ive never seen her in an interview before:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bMCR7YwuHCk
(first one i went to btw, not cherry picked)

The impression is obviously exaggerated but not so massively as i assumed.

That's true. I'm not sure why I like her so much, but I do.

The SNL clips are available online, but if Kristen or Abby isn't in a particular clip, then I don't bother to watch it. SNL used to be a male-dominated show, but the guys suck now.
