Finally a decent episode. Hathaway was easily one of the best of the season. Her Katie Holmes and Dorothy/Judy Garalnd impressions were great. A pretty strong episode overall but for the love of all that is holy can someone tell (force) Wiig to retire Penelope.
Next week will probably be awful with DeNiro. I'm expecting dry and monotone.
After 4 or 5 good seasons the decline started last year and continues. This year may rank as one of the low points in SNL history. They lost a lot of firepower with Fey, Pohler, Forte and Hammond stepping down and none of the newbs have stepped up. The Slate and Watkins firings were just strange - I thought both had good potential - more so than Abby Elliot who somehow remains. Pedrad is excellent and the fact she remains a featured player while Eilliot was moved up to the regular cast is a testament to the show's current struggles. Even the Lonely Island's Digital Shorts have lost their edge.
