Thought it was a pretty horrible episode.

The senior cast members obviously get the featured sketches, but what the hell Fred Armisen is ****ing terrible. Other than his David Patterson, I cannot think of a single time I've liked one of his characters.

Not a Kanye fan by any means, but that second performance was pretty awesome.

Miley Cyrus impersonator was on point. It wasn't really that funny, but it was spot on.

yeah, he performed the same song at the VMA's and I think that performance was better even though it didn't have Pusha T. However, I think there is a good chance Kanye is the best performer in Hip Hop right now (maybe even the past 5 years or so), and maybe even in pop music in general. He is very inventive, but his show isn't overly busy or elaborate in a distracting way. Its just cool and neat, and he brings some old school energy to the show that few performers (especially rappers) can not do.

This just may have been the worst episode of SNL ever. I think the current cast is probably it's weakest in its history too.

682 episodes. No way this is "the worst ever".

It was however pretty terrible. Also they just hired someone who does a great Obama impression so instead of having him do it they stick with Fred who is universally considered to be terrible at BHO?

I thought Weekend Update was strong as always, but for some reason cant remember anything that was on it.

That lounge singer sketch was so bad it was almost surreal. Maybe that's what they were going for?

Agreed. I thought Bobby Moynihans gossip guy on update was easily the strongest part of the show. But every sketch outside of update was cringworthy.

I can't think of another SNL musical performance where they so drastically altered the stage.

These first 2 episodes of the season have to be in the running for worst 2 episodes in SNL history. I think I ff'ed through every skit last night (and most of the ones last week). They were either so over played I hit ff as soon as it starts and the rest I could tell would be dumb within 10 seconds.

I did think the digital short was good though and I usually like the digital short every week. It might be time to phase in more taped stuff and phase out some of the live crap.

I was very disappointed too especially considering that I am a big Bryan Cranston fan. The skit with Morgan Freeman and Ernest Borgnine (they must have been in the building at the time and asked to sit in) was a WTF moment. They need to bring in Alec Baldwin for a show to revive this. It's going down the toilet as we speak.

On second thought, I think Ernest Borgnine didn't even know where he was.

Im not a fan of second hand news guy, but he kicks the crap out of the native american stand up comedian.

Shame they cant have the unprepared singers and the Jon Bovi backwards tribute act anymore Two of the three best regular WU guest bits with the "just kidding" character Wiig does and both relied on Wil Forte.

Im sure Fred did something great at some point, i just cant for the life of me think what.

I think there's a 75% chance Borgnine thought he was on a real BET show. There's a 25% chance he knew he was on SNL, but didn't understand what was supposed to be funny about the sketch. In his defense, I don't know why anyone would find it funny either.

The Moynihan gossip sketch should be a very good sketch, but they run it be making all the punchlines far too broad. The punchlines are so broad that they fail to capture what it is actually like when people tell bull**** second hand stories.

This episode wasn't as bad as other people are saying. It's pretty par for the course for the last couple seasons except they had two fantastic musical performances. I thought the Miley Cyrus sketch was pretty strong and the payoff for the digital short was good as well.

Yeah I'm a sucker for What's Up With That. It's the same thing every time but little pieces of it and the general premise always makes me laugh. Morgan Freeman was clutch this time.

I hate that I love this sketch. I goes against my belief that they need to reign in the recurring characters. Keenan plays it well and as soon as Sudeikas jumps off his platform and starts into his running man I'm hooked again. I guess as long as they keep packing the stage with lunatics What's Up With That will continue to be the exception to the rule.

I thought the Miley impression was good as was the Digital Short (good but not great). The game show sketch with Cranston kissing the kids was pretty damn funny if you know the reference... creepy real life game show vid link.

Nasim Pedrad is solid as well and I'm surprised Abby Elliot got moved up to the main cast while she remains a featured player. I'd have reversed it. In fact I would have kept Jenny Slate and sh*t-canned Elliot.

Someone mentioned they usually hate the last few sketches of the night. I couldn't disagree more. Sure the material is going to be less accessible and not rely on returning characters but often times one (or both) of those last two sketches are the gems of the show.

But, yeah, I kind of liked this episode. A few whiffs (I don't like Wiig's socially ******ed vamp) but overall decent.
