Agree the finale and last few eps this season were pretty lame.

Gavin finally getting his revenge for Jackson Hole was by far the highlight.

This is a perfect example of why I quit watching almost all scripted TV a while back. There always comes a point where the writers run out of ideas and your beloved characters start running around doing stupid **** that makes no sense. It's painful.

lol got to say that after how much tj miller built up his exit it was a massive let down.

the whole idea that it was such an amazing send off for his character that he just had to leave is so absurd it's almost insulting.

just say you want to leave bro.
lol at acting like a 10sec scene of you smoking opium is so hilarious and perfect that you couldn't possibly top it.

that whole episode was terrible and big LOL at them just forgiving richard for absolutely no reason.

have a feeling show is gonna massively jump the shark next season.

I'm trying to think of popular comedy shows that went out while they were still on top:

NewsRadio - my all time favorite, season 5 is almost unwatchable but a lot of that isn't their fault as Phil Hartman died. And it does still have two of the best eps ever - Flowers for Matthew and Matthew has a midlife crisis a turning 30 and turns into a punk.

Friends - weddings and babies and weddings and babies

Seinfeld - held it together pretty well but I got bored and stopped watching the last few seasons, seems like every show was just based on a series of connected coincidences.

Entourage - went downhill as discussed

Workaholics - is that still on? Got unwatchable after season 2 I think.

Futurama, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, and Family Guy - went out on top, but not really by choice. Then came back and weren't as good.

Simpsons - haven't really watched since college. Who actually does watch every week?

South Park - are they still going strong?

And of course all the 70s-90s sitcoms that jumped the shark or brought in Cousin Olivers.

What else? I never really watched It's Always Sunny or How I Met Your Mother.

Veep has had a 6 season run of total excellence. Curb Your Enthusiasm has had ups and downs but never got bad.

I think Southpark is still super strong but people have high expectations.

+1 on this whole post

Erlich's send off was incredibly anticlimactic based on TJ's comments. Not surprising since he comes across as a complete douche to me.

I didn't think the whole season was terrible but the end and constant roller coaster storyline was tiring.

I still like and enjoy the show, and I'm not gonna pretend like I'm gonna stop watching because it's begun to stutter. Ashamed to say I've failed to quit shows exponentially more terrible than this, I'm looking at you Ray Donovan.

I keep trying to watch Veep because it comes on after Silicon Valley but it just bores me to death, most shows I don't even laugh once.

The Office is a good example of both extremes.

The original quit after two seasons, but is regarded as one of the best comedies ever. The recent-ish film can, and should, be ignored (although I admit I enjoy the soundtrack).

The US version stretched itself out as much as possible. I still love it, but there is definitely a decline in quality and a lot of silly filler, especially in the later seasons.

The office was great tv when tv was a thing. Now it's like the horse and buggy.

What's funny is I barely remember much about the last few eps of this show, the mid season was the highlight and memorable.

So I know that we weren't all that high on this season, but I just rewatched episode 8, and the running joke about the cold weather in California is ****ing hillarious. Looking at it in hindsight outside of focusing on the plot, it is so ****ing funny.

The great thing about getting older and having my memory fade is re-binge watching shows like Silicone Valley and laughing my ass off....again

Love brilliant little jokes like this:

So why did this thread die in 2017, is the show cancelled?

For some reason, a new thread was created for the most recent season. The two threads should probably be merged.

Lol I didn't even realize there was a new season because I figured I'd know when this thread gets bumped. I'm guessing it's disappointing.
