Only got 2 eps in so far but anything amy adams is a watch for me, shes a fantastic actress and most of them are DOG****.

I think the atmosphere is something we never get in TV shows, which really helped TD season 1. will be watching this and love how its a mini series. HBO does it again

Near the end of last episode it looks like I light bulb popped in her head and we will find something out finally. So that's good. I still got no idea who it is and I usually can pick the killer fairly early. I got one guess right now but total wild guess.
I agree with you. I like the show and love the tone of the show, but I need it to start moving. It seems like they have stretched a 5-6 episode show into 8.

So what happened at the end there? It went fast and I had no real desire to rewind.

Spoiler:
The sister knew both dead girls, they played in the creepy cabin, they showed us how the bullet got into the stop sign, the sister was the dead body in the cabin. That about the sum of it? The mom's gonna be involved in all this somehow right?

Pretty much, but the little sister (Amma) dead in the cabin was her imagining this as the outcome. She didn't actually find her there.

This show is definitely worth rewatch/rewinds. There are all kinds of little visual things you might miss on first watch. It's definitely not a show you can watch while also scrolling through Twitter or 2+2. You'll miss way too much. Whenever we're seeing the story through Camille's eyes, different things with writing on them change to other words. A few examples:
  • In the Ep 1 when she is leaving St. Louis the freeway sign says "Last exit to change your mind" (this one was pretty obvious).
  • In Ep 2 when Camille goes into the house for Natalie's wake/reception, the BMW in the driveway's license plate reads "Punish".
  • In Ep 3, just before she slams on the brakes to not hit the vision in the middle of the road, the sign that says "St. Louis 90" changes to say "Spiteful". It's only in the shot when she sees the vision.

These were ones I caught on first watch, but there a bunch of others I've seen on a second watch. And there are even more listed in a Vulture article my wife found. I'm guessing many might find it gimmicky, but I appreciate what it adds to the show, even if I don't catch them all.

This show is crushing in pretty much every department.

The pace has slowed to a crawl. Back to back 40 minute episodes of nothing happening. I take back my previous post, they had enough material for 3-4 episodes.

The mom in this show is a top 5 all time TV villain. I can't remember hating a character this much, ever.

She far surpassed Mommie Dearest.

I’m glad this wasn’t on Netflix. Binging this night make you have to call the # they post at the end of the eps.

Yeah, I was hooked after the first 3, but watched 4 and 5 last night and am much less so. I thought this might end up as good as TD1 or even Hannibal (that's right mofos, hannibal was better). I'll stick it out for sure, but my expectations are much lower now.

Adams is fantastic

I don't think its too slow at all. I think the pacing is a similar to Rectify. Same with the overall vibe. Different sides of it, but similar.

Meh, this gets worse every week. Maybe the last two episodes can save it. That was the worst episode of the series and hardly anything has happened in three episodes. I don't know if the total run length of the last three episodes has even been two hours.

I think the hate is coming from people who expected the murder mystery to be the central focus of the show. Plenty has happened the past few episodes, just not much wrt the murder mystery.

I don't think you can make this argument if you can summarize the plot of most episodes in less than 10 seconds without leaving out any important details. I think I could bring a random person up-to-date on the show in 60 seconds and they wouldn't be any less in-the-know than someone who has seen every episode.

This episode was the only true misstep of the show so far. Didn’t need it at all. The AV Club reviewer was even listing where the tiny bits of new info would fit in other episodes. The show is too slow to have had an episode like this.

Spoiler:
Adora biting the baby to make it cry and then say god gave me another sick baby is one of the creepiest scenes ever. You ****. What a monster.

If anyone is interested in seeing just how ****ed up these Munchausen by proxy people are IRL, check out an HBO documentary called "Mommy Dead and Dearest."

They jammed 5 episodes of plot into the first 10 mins of this episode. Also, a **** ton of stuff happened off camera. Why did the cop completely pull away from the hot murder case to explore Amy Adams' sister's cold case? The show did nothing to explain why he became suspicious about the circumstances of her death. Also, why did they suspect the brother from the beginning? That was never really fleshed out (because he was too sad about her death???). Why didn't they show the witness testimony that allowed them to secure a warrant? Did I miss an episode or something.

Amy Adams banging the murder suspect had to have been the dumbest thing I've ever seen. The show did nothing to set that up. There was no prior hint of mutual attraction so it especially made no sense when she hooked up with him when the police were moving in on the arrest.

Iv been curious to see what the reaction to this has been so far.
I read the book a while ago and really enjoyed it, but iv been holding off on watching till most or all eps are out so I can binge if worthy.
In the last 18mths or so i also read The Circle and Ready Player One which both soon after were movified and found the books to be so much better in both cases.
So much gets left out due to time constraints and it’s usually the lil nuances/backstories that add so much to the overall tale but I was hopeful this would be better as it’s multi ep. The post above hints it’s still not as detailed as the book
