So far nothing's compared to Seinfeld and LD. Still enjoying it, though.

Whelp, I've fallen behind again on this show, and only just watched the Joel Hodgson (MST3K) episode.

Started off slow, but it was downright riotous once the two of them got going. I dig.

Both of two after Joel Hodgson (Bob Einstein and Barry Marder) were really meh. Also, the one with Marder was really short; it clocked in at less than 8 minutes, and only contained one "spare part." Many of the others are around 12 minutes and have six spare parts.

I wonder what happened with Marder that caused it to be so much shorter?

Shortage of funny bits is my educated guess. That guy was likable I thought, but didn't bring much to the table.

I really enjoyed the Mel Brooks/Carl Reiner episode. Looking forward to the finale with Kramer.

None of the other episodes came close to touching the brilliance of the pilot.

I thought the Mel Brooks episode was great had some really cool stories.

I couldn't tell if Richards was kidding about the savant chess player. I've never heard of this ever before.

Richards definitely wasn't kidding in that he believed what he was saying, but it does sound Kramer-level of crazy to suggest there's this actual class of mentally ill homeless savants who are good enough to beat the best chess players in the world, but they simply never enter the tournaments. Maybe someone who knows much about high-level chess can offer their input since I'm a total novice. It sounds completely unbelievable to me

Not everyone is a fan of Larry David. Personally I find his whiny neurotic ways quite grating and a turn off.

Maybe he was actually playing against Bobby Fischer...

That story was clearly apocryphal, and Michael Richards is obviously a pretty weird/sad dude. Was an interesting episode though.

I loved this series, including the Larry David and Brian Regan episodes. "We can put a monkey into orbit but they can't make a decent lava lamp!" Hoping it returns in some form.

haven't watched the ep yet, but high-level chess (and chess in general) is all about putting the hours in with books + studying openings and positions.

not that the best guy in the world is the hardest worker necessarily, but you can't get into the top 100 conversation without putting in an ungodly amount of hours, typically from early childhood. you can't just be a smart dude.

anyway, am intrigued to watch this now!

I havent finished it, but what pissed me off:
She talks about new friends being rude to waiters, but in the beginning she yells through the restaurant: "Who do we have to blow to get some menus?"

Pissed me off a bit, otherwise was not feeling it. But still pumped for the next season.
