I mean these 2 clips from a Simpsons episode is such a perfect scathing satire on our political climate

But the crazy thing is this episode is 21 years old

That's not even the best one. Sideshow Bob Roberts could literally be written today and every scene would hold up as scathing current satire.

I just don't understand McDonald's marketing. They are promoting a new kind of chicken tenders. If there was a store near me that had ample quantities of Szechuan sauce, I would swing by and try some. At the very least they'd get $7 from me. But maybe the new chicken tenders are ****ing amazing and I would like them enough to come back for them frequently and they'd make a lot of money from me.

Instead, the nearest place to get the sauce was an hour drive away, and in such small quantities that my chances of getting any were near zero, so I didn't bother to go to any McDonald's yesterday, and thus they didn't get my $7 and I didn't try the new chicken tenders so I'll never know if they're any good and thus McDonald's won't get a lot of money from me even if they are good.

Yeah, I was saying this over in the fast food thread. Sure you got a bunch of people to stand in line for 40 minutes. Then you come out and say "Oh btw, we only have 4 packets of szechuan Sauce" 90% of the line leaves then goes online to talk about how terrible you are. Any good pub granted by releasing the stuff was torpedoed by this false scarcity bull****.

You know who makes money in a world of fake scarcity? Not the company, not the people who want your product, only the ****ing scalpers.

So Rick and Morty has created a new special 1st world problem? Has The Simpsons ever achieved that?

Ya, it was a terrible promo because it was so limited. Like only a couple locations per state. I got some chicken tenders anyways, and a 1$ sundae.

Funny enough, the Simpsons episode featuring the Ribwich (parodying the McDonald's McRib over-demand/under-supply issues) might have slightly exacerbated the over-demand of the McRib in subsequent weeks.

Definitely wasn't golden age Simpsons, but it was the 300th episode, so a lot of people tuned in.

To quote Rick: "Yea South park already did it." And South Park has an episode titled "Simpsons already did it."

It's objectively hilarious how mad nerds are over the sauce thing, but I never understood why McDonalds didn't capitalize on this quicker. Disney is making a live action Mulan, this random cartoon made people remember the sauce, just bring the sauce back at some date related to either the show or the movie and reap the monies.

Instead they picked a random day and had supply chain issues with the sauce? It's just ****ing soy sauce and ketchup, guys, and you have to have the best logistical infrastructure this side of the US military.

Correcting this now. Embiggen has not been officially recognized in the dictionary yet.

However, both doh and cromulent are recognized by Webster's and Oxford

As an avid watcher of all these shows, this is so far off. Only Bojack comes close - The other two never have enough emotional strength to be on par, but the Simpsons pulled this off over a really long period of time, while being consistently hilarious and so "in touch with the times" it's scary.

The only thing the Simpson's and Rick and Morty have in common is they're animated.
