Yep. Not to be all "The Simpsons did it" but the Simpsons has repeatedly lampooned this specific aspect of the family sitcom.
The Mulan sauce bit was just an unusually clever take on that bit, and the rant Rick gave was just a winking acknowledgement of how clever their bit was.
