Watched first 3, found it awesome, very slow.

I only skimmed the thread but someone seems to have brought up he would get a settlement - just look at the Central Park Five case which became a documentary (that is meant to be extremely good) which Rectify seems so similar to I suspect it is a model for the show at least in part. Basically the five of them are cleared but a decade on they still havent received any kind of settlement and the city is just constantly holding up their civil case to get any because they falsely confessed even though they withdrew those confessions and claimed they were intimidated and coerced into doing so shortly after.

For those wondering about the ratings of the show, it doesn't look like we'll ever get any information about them, because it can't get itself rated high enough.

For Sundance, the premiere episode(s) did not crack the top 100 cable shows, with the lowest rating tracked of the top 100 being a 0.3 in the 18-49 demo. Since it's Sundance, this probably isn't much of a surprise.

For the encore episode, which was given the Mad Men lead in on Sunday night on AMC, it also did not crack the top 100, which also had the lowest tracked show as a 0.3 in the 18-49 demo.

All you can basically take from that is that almost no one is watching the show on Sundance, and almost no one is watching the show on AMC. I don't know what kind of ratings expectations Sundance has for it, but I doubt AMC is going to let it stay on their schedule for very long with those kind of ratings.

Sundance put the 1st 3 episode on demand weeks ago.

1st and 2nd episode aired on Sundance April 22
3rd episode aired on Sundance April 29.

It's the 15th rated itunes tv show right now.

You can buy all 6 episodes on Amazon prime/Itunes

People watch TV shows on iTunes? I know they exist on there, but I didn't think anyone actually did it.

Sure they do. I'm guessing for like an apple tv or something. I don't buy anything on itunes but I do buy a lot of TV shows on disk.

Finally got around to watching 1st episode. I liked it a lot. Thought the acting was excellent. The dialogue was very good too.

It was a well put together 1st episode. Slow moving plot didn't bother me. I think Daniel is an interesting character and want to see more.

The sister is really hot.

Wow, I guess that proves that Sundance has zero ratings expectations.

This show has an insane quality to view ratio. Got time to watch ep 4 earlier and I just did 5 and 6 straight after it was too good to stop. Again, awesome news that it got renewed.

Agree.
Spoiler:
Not shocked at what happened at end but would of kinda sucked if there was no 2nd season.

Grunching to avoid potential spoilers

How good is this? Can you compare it to some other show (so I have an idea what to expect) ?

Easily top 5 drama shows on TV right now. It is that good imo.

The only ones I can thin of I rank above it is Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones, maybe Person of Interest but they are really different. I think it is better than a lot of shows I truly loved like Arrow and Banshee.

I dont necessarily think it matters if he did it or not, however it is also something I doubt they will reveal too soon. It is like the long term mystery of the show.

I started ep1 this morning and couldn't stop until I finished the whole season. Really great show. Acting is top tier, dialogues are great, I love the slow pace. Even the imagery is good.

I'm so happy there's going to be a s02.

Kamikan don't read below this line if you haven't seen it. There's nothing TV wise you can compare the show to. It has an indie film feel. No network or cable channel would ever touch a property like this at the speed the story develops.

Finally finished the season, and thought it was a good show. I think Phill is being a bit hyperbolic putting it up there with those shows. My favorite part of the show, at least through the first 4, was the cinematography (thought that dropped a little in episodes 5 and 6, but it was still really good, even though all episodes were by the same guy). I also really like the main title. I think the show is a lot more style than substance than most of you do. My favorite episode was probably episode 3, and I think the directing in that episode was at or near EMMY caliber.

We still have gotten almost nowhere in the show, and it was pretty surprising to realize that the entire first season took place across six days. Daniel is a very interesting enigma, and I think there's close to zero chance he did it. They did appear to reveal that he was "high on shrooms" at the time, so he may have no clue what really happened. I wish there were a better pay off with the guy who killed himself in the first episode. Clearly things are not what they seem, and I'm thinking Carl may play a bigger part in what happened than has been let on already. I'm guessing the body being discovered will be the beginning of season 2, but who really knows? The most impressive thing about the show is that they were allowed to unfold a really awkward and bizarre story in an incredibly slow way. This show has the furthest thing from mass appeal, and likely will never even become a cult show, but I'm glad I'm watching it, even despite some of its very odd faults. It's an odd show, no doubt about it.

Two entertaining things were Teddy with his pants pulled down and coffee poured over his butt after being a dick to Daniel and getting put to sleep. Later they tied that in, in a somewhat humorous way, by having his dad say about the people who put the bomb in the mailbox, "next time they'll have a backside covered with buckshot".

I did the same thing, watched the first episode on a whim and found myself watching all six in one shot.

I loved the slow pace. It allowed me to kind of luxuriate in the characters, to really get to the roots of who they are and why they behave the way they do.

One of my favorite imagery shots in the finale was when Daniel was sitting on the porch after the mailbox bombs. He was sitting in a way that made it look exactly like he was getting a mug shot done with the way the lines on the wood of the house looked. There are too many symbolic shots to count in the show, and it's one of the most enjoyable things about it, in my opinion.

I finished this awhile ago and I have to agree w/phil this is right up there w/the goat shows albeit only 6 eps in. I can't wait to see a full 13 ep s2 to see if it can keep up the quality.
