Yeah, that was thing. He barely spoke until Bill directed the voting question specifically to him and then he looked very uncomfortable having attention focused on him while he was speaking.

The Tea Party Bot was pretty funny with his canned responses.

It's a shame Nate Silver was a guest for a week that involved mostly foreign policy discussion, as that is far from his wheelhouse. Hard to blame him for not contributing much to that discussion. I thought it was still a good show though. The Reverend and Takei were both good guests.

It would have been better to have Silver on 2 or 3 months from now as one of the interview guests where he could just talk mid term election numbers.

These two things were said by the same person, in the same post.

Thought the same thing. I kept waiting for the conversation to shift to polling because that's one of the areas where Nate shines, yet it never happened. Other than the brief mention of 2014 election possibilities Nate could have not been on at all and it would not have made a difference. Hopefully he has Nate back when there are more Nate-specific topics to cover.

Affleck did a little too much coke before the show last night.

Yeah wow I usually like Ben but he came off really badly. Yelling over Sam Harris, calling him racist for criticizing Islam... he was like the stereotypical out-of-touch Hollywood liberal the right loves to complain about.

Yeah he also seemed puffy, sweaty, and agitated. Weird vibe from Affleck last night.

lol @ you guys

Just ignore the fact that Affleck was correct. The stereotypical liberals in this scenario are Maher and Harris. Generalizing about Islam as a way to demonize all muslims during a time when we a have a liberal president engaging in systemic war-mongering justified by fear-mongering and demonizing of muslims...

Maher is a cheerleader jackass in terms of how he applies his views of Islam in support of his team's warfare around the world when his team is in power. In this context, the Reza Aslan's and Ben Affleck's are correct.

This is coming from an independent who thinks that Maher is typically better than most talking heads out there.

Screaming racist, because Harris says Islam contains bad ideas? No he's not correct.

If Harris and Maher's arguments were simply limited to "Islam contains bad ideas," then sure, Affleck would be incorrect to call them racist.

However, it is wildly dishonest to pretend that "Islam contains bad ideas" is the only part of Maher and Harris's arguments in this context.

Yeah, Affleck came off as typical pinhead liberal who can't stand applying logic to situations. Islam does have bad concepts.

This is just wrong. If you watch the show regularly you would know that Bill is vehemently opposed to the war on terror, despite the fact that Obama is for it. And also, ironically, despite the fact that he is very anti-Islam.

I also strongly disagree with your assertion that the views of Maher and Harris are typical of liberals.

Ben Affleck did a great job of showing what the "I feel you guys are very wrong, but I cannot begin to reason why" feeling looks like. Hope he pulls off acting like that in the new batman.

ASPoker,

Please provide examples where you think Sam Harris is prejudice against people who practice Islam (or even racist towards a certain ethnicity) and not critical of the bad ideas in Islam and the negative effects it has on the world.

I thought last night's show was the best of the year. Warren, Harris, Affleck, Steele, Kristof is a pretty elite lineup

Agreed great lineup just would have been nice if Affleck let Harris talk a little bit, I would have liked to hear what he had to say.

Yea, affleck is obviously much more versed on Islam than Harris.

How about Reza Aslan?

Let's be honest about what is happening here. In the wake of of a brutal massacre of Palestinians paid for and supported by USgov and in the midst of a surge of warfare in Syria and Iraq against boogeymen Muslims that USgov helped to create, we have cheerleader liberals rushing to demonize all of Islam.

We have outrageous and unfair generalizations being shoved down throats in an effort to mislead and justify the liberal team behavior.

We have Bill Maher continuously hosting roundtable bashing sessions of Islam where he is too inherently cowardly and dishonest to invite a Muslim to participate.

Nitpick and scapegoat Ben Affleck all you want. I find this approach just as cowardly as the generalizations, as ignoring people like Reza Aslan, and as refusing to include a Muslim in the debates at all.

But hey, Bill Maher is on your TEAM. And he is defending the actions of your TEAM. So context, reality, fairness, and honesty can jump right out the window. #uniteblue #leanforward

LOL, if only the evil liberals would listen to the compassionate, tolerant conservatives and end their war on terror. What world are you living in?

Bill has had plenty of Muslims on his show, including Reza Aslan, and went to Islamic countries and talked to Muslims in Religulous. And again, he OPPOSES the war on terror. You have conveniently forgotten to respond to this fact.

If you want to see your boy Reza getting owned by Sam Harris:

No he is pointing out that it is the only religion were if you draw a cartoon of it you risk your life. Also a majority believe in some of the religions brutal treatment of gays and women.

Ben never let the guy talk and Ben was so mad at what he thought their views on Muslim's were that he closed his mind to anything else

Was a great job and getting Elizabeth warren on good for him. I also applaud actors like Ben that appear and have an opinion.

Also Bill provided an interesting point let te three countries around ISIS deal with the Isue they have the might and interest to do so

This is the problem. People like you base their entire worldview on liberals vs conservatives.

Because I am denouncing liberal support for war-mongering while their guy is in office does not mean I support the conservatives. Quite the opposite.
