LOL this was my read years ago, he was once a very funny guy. I think it just happens when you have a show like the tonight show or another regular show like Real time. I think he peaked with around Religiosity as he was still funny in every format and then slipped off.

If he wants to be a comedian he needs to do a ton of touring, now he's just a political commentator. That's cool... I guess.

Thought the last few weeks were good. He even thought Katie Porter was funny and mentioned it. Smart lady

Finally he brings a guest on to debate political correctness on transgender issues.

Also #Biden2020

Glad I watched.

I am kind of amazed Bill's never won an Emmy. What he does is not easy, it's a lot of moving parts to juggle, especially live. He is very very good at it.

Howard joked about keeping the interview going for the whole hour, rather than bringing on the panel. It would have absolutely been a much better show. I love the honesty of these two guys. It just feels like you're getting their unvarnished truth.

I agree completely. How is the Emmy decided? Is it just a popularity contest? I just wonder if it's because Maher can piss people off. He's liberal of course, but he doesn't always toe the liberal line that some of the lefties would like.

I'm a huge fan of Bill, particularly his take on religion (absolutely loved Religulous), but I still find him occasionally annoying. One of the things he does that gets to me is his constant characterization of Americans as stupid, ignorant and fat. (I, for one, don't feel that fat.) Sure, we have some of that, but it's not like America has the market cornered on it.

But, like I say, I'm a fan and never miss a show (although I admit to fast forwarding through somme of the panel when they get mired in the weeds).

Finally someone with the courage to give platform to an anti-vaxer. Enough with this PC culture. Can't wait for the flat earther next week.

Yeah, I usually like Maher even if I don't always agree with him, but that show last night was the worst I can remember. Just blatant, textbook anti-vax propaganda that he was not only giving a platform to, but actually defending and promoting, practically ridiculing any of his viewers for not being smart and questioning the scientific consensus on vaccines.

I guess I'm glad I missed that last episode, lol. I'm pretty excited though, just got the call that I have tickets to Friday's taping. I spend a month in California every year and have been trying to get in for quite a few years now.

LOL at the anti vaccine stuff. I wish whenever an anti vaccine type ever started talking, a historian just stood up and talked about all the plagues mankind has had to endure before vaccines. It's literally stuff you learn by middle school....

The doctor never said he was a anti vaccine . He actually stated he was vaccinated as were his kids. The argument is weather more studying should be done. He did state that vaccines were good. I watched it and thought boy he is gonna take grief on this

Judge Judy pushing Bloomberg. Now I know why she gets 40 million a year. I never knew she gets 3 times the ratings as Ellen and crushed Oprah when on.
Great to hear Bill talk about the old days on ABC when he was on every night and had to have 4 guests every night

What he does with his own kids or what he really believes in his heart is irrelevant though. When you go on a show that's broadcast to millions of people and sow doubt about the legitimacy of the scientific consensus on something like this, you're doing a net harm to society. The idea that every parent should be making an independent decision on this based on nothing but their own intuition is horribly dangerous, especially when you're not presenting them with all of the facts first and just filling their heads with scary anecdotes instead.

Sure there's a grain of truth to the idea that science is always evolving and that those in the scientific community should always be open to further research and impartial analysis of new data, but that's not an actionable message for a mass audience. Their only takeaway is going to be that their favorite TV host told them that doctors don't know anything about anything and he was backed up by a sensible-sounding authority, which is exactly how the seeds of these awful ideas get planted in people's heads. The anti-vax movement is not just crazy soccer moms, it's guys like this who give dumb people permission to think they know better than their doctors and provide quotes for their Facebook memes.
