I'm always prattling on about how much I admire Steve Schmidt. Malcolm Nance is entering that conversation now, and having both of them on the same episode (along with awesome DOOOOOK lady) made this one of my favorite episodes.

Only disappointment: before I caught up to this episode, I heard Schmidt on a podcast, where he said essentially the exact same things he said on Real Time. It never occurred to me he wrote this stuff in advance and wedged it into the conversation, I thought he just SPOKE that way. LOL me. Again.

Steve Ballmer was more entertaining than every comedian/entertainer they usually have on. Nobody gives a **** what your geopolitical views are, Mr. Ice Cube.

That guy's a ****ing weirdo!

Really enjoyed the show, tho.

A week late but Bill's New Rule defending Al Franken was pretty uncomfortable to watch. Audience was nearly silent through the whole thing. And Bill essentially told a female panelist to shut up when she started to disagree with him.

I guess Al is a buddy of Bill's so maybe he's been looking for a chance to defend him... but, that was a pretty ill-advised bit.

he told her to stfu because it's his bit and guests are told in advance to stfu. not because she was disagreeing with him.

Agree that it was awkward af. Bill is definitely a man of his time, and I would bet behind closed doors he thinks the whole #metoo thing is a load of nonsense.

Didn't Bill Maher basically live at the Playboy Mansion? I don't think he is a stalwart feminist.

Seems to fit Bill's character perfectly.

When I was a kid, there was a guy in pro wrestling named "Classy" Fred Blassie (you may recall him palling around with Andy Kaufman).

He did a bit every time he stepped in the ring, that cracked me up, every time. The ring announcer would introduce him to the crowd, and he'd smile and raise his hands victoriously, ready to bask in applause--then look shocked when they would boo him instead (every single time!), and start grumbling and stomping.

I think of this, every time PJ O'Rourke says something he thinks will get a big laugh. He always looks so proud of himself for a moment, always looks ready to bask in his success. And it never happens.

I can't bring myself to watch Maher be nice to Steve Bannon...someone tell me Bannon gets his ass handed to him, and I will watch

Sorry Dom, it was very civil. Bannon came off looking very reasonable at times.

(Don't worry, he still looked mostly FOS.)

Lol that sums him up perfectly. I guess Bill finds him funny since (unfortunately for the audience) he keeps having him on.

Errol Morris has a new documentary coming out about Bannon. I suspect it will be much tougher on him than Bill was.

PJ is a pretty good writer and some of his stuff is actually funny (and all of it is funnier in print than when delivered by him personally)

Jeff Ross needs to organize a roast of Bill Maher. You just know he wouldn't handle the jabs well and it would be spectacular.

What a terrible ****ing episode. 10 minutes of gossip time with Omarosa, followed by 30 minutes of talking about a single instance in Bills crusade against political correctness, and an unfunny monologue and new rules.

Total waste of time.

I fast-forwarded through that awful woman - why does Bill keep having the enemy on?? Two weeks ago Steve Bannon, and now this ****.

Turned it off half way through the boring panel.
