The shootout scene was quite absurd for a number of reasons. The one thing RD did a good job of in the first couple of seasons was limiting the amount of crazy shootouts and body coverups. Ray and co go into a building in the middle of the day and engage in a massive shootout with known mafia and walk out without being noticed. At most they'd hide one or two bodies in the first seasons and Ray mostly 'fixed' situations. They've hidden numerous bodies and Ray has killed numerous people this season while somehow keeping a low enough profile. I did LOL how he continued for an entire morning with a gunshot wound just taking care of business.
On a more positive note, I think as a character RD advanced more in the past 3-4 episodes than in the entire show up to that point. Liev did a great job in his role.
I was really disappointed that neither Black Irish or Connor got caught in the crossfires of the war w the Armenians. Hopefully next season the mafia's vengeful uncle comes by and starts whacking of the Donovans a la slasher film style. He kills one each week in hilarious fashion.
Season 4 Episode 1 (NO SPOILERS) - The first episode of the new season has shown up online a week before the broadcast premier. Has it been a year? It's a good one. I'm right back in it.
The plotline where Ray bailed out Mickey by abducting Belikov just felt so rushed to me (would have been more interesting than the stupid breast cancer plotline or all the Terry/Bunchy crap).
The constant kidnapping every episode is getting kind of stupid.
Spoiler:
Injecting someone with ketamine must be the new generic knock-out method like hitting someone on the back of the head with a revolver. Just throw him in the trunk - it's not like people stop breathing or anything depending on all sorts of factors. And, in broad daylight, no less. Didn't OJ Simpson get 15 years or something just for saying "Nobody leaves the room!"
Oh, and you pretty much admit to framing someone for multiple homicide that you committed and the detective goes along with it?
Ep2 was really, really bad. Did you see Connor strutting around like he was yoked up or something? Everything involved in freeing Mick was so ridiculous.
So uh who is the Russian guy? I'm failing to recall that crappy storyline from the pool of crappy storylines in past seasons? Or did they just shoe horn some new Russian gangsters in out of the blue?
I think I've realized that the issue with this show is that it's two different shows.
The Ray stuff (especially with familiy) is intended to be very realistic and make the viewers to the point where you're concerned for their safety.
But the Micky stuff, while being some of the funniest and entertaining **** on the show, is so far from realistic. Micky is like the Ralph Kramden of robberies. He's pulling stunts that should have gotten him killed every week.
We can't be in one mindset for one character, but another has different rules.
