Maybe they edited that part out so they could include the feel good spiel

Spoiler:
As the box is faced away he just lets go and turns his hand back round. I might be wrong though.

people ITT definitely need to stop referring to segments of this show's with just the magician's name. i get it, you're a huge magic fan. but for the rest of us, the only people on this show whose names are worth remembering so far have been penn, teller, jonathan ross (dislike btw), and piff the magic dragon who was absolutely hilarious.

Daniel Madison's attempt was a pretty big fail. How he thought he could fool P+T with that method is beyond me and having them sit on his right side basically guarantees they can't miss. The camera work is also terrible and makes it very easy to spot.

I was disappointed with Benjamin Earl's choice of effect since I like him a lot and think he has tons of great effects he could have done, though for the sole purpose of fooling P+T it was obviously a good one. P+T are such fish falling for Ben's trap of performing an effect which could be done with a very simple and easy method in an extremely difficult way.
I have no idea what this post is referring to.

Also, I can't believe everyone is taking the competition part of this so seriously. "They haven't defined what countenances being fooled!" Seriously, here's the premise of the show - watch awesome magic tricks and sometimes the performers will go on to do a bigger magic show that none of us will ever see. now enjoy.

Pretty uneventful Penn and Teller bit at the end, no? Those are obviously not Teller's hands holding the box, so Penn simply slipped the glasses to Teller one of the times he was going over to the box and teller put them on.

Penn asked/told her that it was a variation on the Kellar rope tie. Google that and you'll have your answer.

pretty terrible posts tsao! btw i think you are confusing 'huge magic fans' with 'people with a memory better than a goldfish who also know how to use google'.

just watched and i agree. the chosen camera angles made it obvious what was happening during the trick. even though i spotted the key moment, i still enjoyed it because Penn is humorous and has a great stage presence, which is probably more important than the tricks themselves.

Agreed. That one camera angle when Penn moved over to Teller to knock the wand against the block made it pretty clear when the handoff was. If I'm wrong about that then I guess they fooled me!

and a bit more by the guy who wrote that :
the trouble with that the trick is they asked at the end for him to switch cds and couldn't. so they had discovered a flaw in the trick. he was representing that each of those cds had the song. if he could have maintained that, he would have fooled them. without this, they remain obviously skeptical, and not exactly fooled. its not about method guessing.

apparently he could, he just didn't want to argue further because it was so discouraged by the producers. (i read that in the thread i linked last week)

anyway whatever, i am not defending that trick. just highlighting the inconsistencies and giving some backstage info. it's just dumb that for some acts they allegedly spend 30 mins examining props and asking questions, yet for others they make one low probability guess (to which being answered 'no' basically reveals how the trick was done), then announce they are fooled and cart them off to vegas. anyway ya ya it's tv just enjoy it, i get it.

Wow, so much magic nittery itt. Just be happy someone pitched a show that got some magicians on tv. They're probably getting work even if they don't "fool them" and go to Vegas (which is probably just a neat little weekends anyway.) Chill out.
