I loved the first two seasons but this one has been a major letdown for me. I've got one episode to go, so I suppose a great finale could redeem it somewhat but seems unlikely.
I feel like the main issue this season has been a convoluted plot, which doesn't really work well in such short seasons.
It was shaping up to be my favorite season, despite the much anticipated but rather late return of hasidic Bain. However, the ending was mostly a disappointment, the kidnapping and resolution of the main plot were very weak except for the last scene, which sets up the next season nicely. I felt the strength of development of the main characters outweighed the lack of a compelling villain, but between not understanding wtf they said half the time about the plot I can see a justification to think they dropped the ball this season. Still, I thought all the Shelbys were at their best, great stuff from Thomas, Arthur, John and Polly.
I first heard of this show a couple weeks ago and finished it tonight. I really loved it. Tommy is awesome, Alfie is awesome. Use of Red Right Hand is awesome.
OMG! This scene just blew me away. Some of the finest TV I've seen in a while. Brody is such a boss!
Well, he's clearly got the sense of humour required for Peaky Blinders, because he's doing the Brando voice from The Godfather. Ridiculous but right.
Remains to be seen how the mafia boys fare when Tommy gets the Lewis gun out, as glimpsed in the season trailer. Thompson guns, which we've already seen the mafia using, make you look all big and clever, sure... until the other guy produces a Lewis gun.
