I binged two full seasons of this thing in a little over a week. By far the best thing I've watched this year and I'm kinda shocked this show doesn't have more buzz.

Season 1, ep. 8: The almost 4 minute long take in the yard with the pipes as each character comes into frame and piles on more complications while the camera slowly zooms in...

Cool.

Only on S2 ep2 but this show is so good.

Spoiler:
When he is telling his dad that it was Dennis and his brother in the video was outstanding, they like to make these videos, it kind of looks like Reservoir Dogs. Also, being on The Weed, and the getting a gun song, also doing Cocaine.

So many great scenes in that episode.

it hasn't been marketed really at all. and i think the title/theme of the show is misleading. it kinda seems like it's another jack ryan, 24 type of show. you might watch it expecting a military/cop type of show. but it's more like a crazy weird artsy show. more like fargo, or even rectify than it is like jack ryan or 24.

like if you tell people the show is called "the patriot" and it's about a cia agent trying to stop iran from getting nuclear weapons... they're gonna be expecting a different kind of show

Tell them it's a black comedy with a heavy dose of pathos. And that it's fantastic.

Man I don't get all the love for this show, I've tried starting it twice and the furthest I got was episode 2 of the first season. Is there an episode where it gets good or should I just give up?

The main problems I have with it are the protagonist being so unlikeable and the cinematography being so flat. Disappointing since I heard it being Coen-like but so far it seems like it was written by a undergrad film student. I do like the Edward character though he's well written and acted.

But overall, I'd say no, if you don't like it already your opinion is very unlikely to change.

Easily one of my favorite series of this decade.

to be fair, it is a pretty hard show to market even if Amazon didn't suck balls at marketing their shows. The show would have def done a lot better on Netflix. Hopefully Season 2 getting a lot more praise guarantees future seasons. Surprised Chris Conrad isn't getting more small parts in features/indies after his breakout in Season 1.

The writing staff should def get some emmys. I saw someone describe it online as In Bruges meets Burn After Reading with a little of A Life Aquatic's crazy vibe and tone sprinkled in.

I recently watched Burn After Reading and just started watching this. Two episodes in and it's feels very similar to BAR. Very good. Love the folk songs he writes and I typically don't like that sort of thing.

I think the job cover was meant to create a justifiable reason an American engineer would be meeting an Iranian engineer. For a show like this, I think its best to view it as a slightly different universe than real life and just let the show set the "rules" without really dissecting them.

In contrast to typical spy shows, Patriots's hero has this hang-dog,brow-beaten, downcast attitude like a lot of employees have. "I'm sick and tired of doing the awful and crazy things that this job makes me do but I guess I have to do it. I signed up for it and I'm good at it and I'm a survivor so here goes me taking on another hopeless project." Of course it doesn't help that it is his own father encourages him to continue. Loved the show
