Yeah that was a pretty weak episode. They did the super fancy restaurant experience 2 times too many and ofc the cringe-inducing Lindgren stuff was awful.

Lyon episode was good - but I would have no interest in most of the food featured.

Mexico City episode was the worst one I've seen. The food looked awful and it's Mexico ****ing City. I can't think of many other big cities I'd least like to visit.

I went to Mexico City last year and an amazing time. It's actually a lot more like a European city than you'd think--at least the nice parts of it. The street tacos and gorditas (yes there's a real thing that Taco Bell based the cheesy gordita crunch on) blew my mind. I really want to go back just for that.

I preferred no reservations to cnn, less politics

Lyon - while I'm no big fan of old-guard French cuisine, the barely cooked salmon dish looked awesome.

Mexico - I though most of the food shown there looked pretty good.

I made a Marco Pierre White riff on the salmon dish, with basil instead of sorrel. The fish was quite a lot thicker, but it was really good.

The salmon dish was indeed good...but that's because it was nouveau cuisine and not that heavy sauce, weird meat old guard kinda dish! That one dish that had everything in it or the one with the bladder....no thanks

Mississippi Delta? One of the best hours of television I have seen in years.

Fabulous episode, the food looked great, the folks were cool, I wanna go visit.

Yeah I was expecting to be let down by Mississippi but that episode had a great mix of charcaters, food, history, scenery, etc

Anyone have thoughts on this season? I'm really liking it so far.

Haven't watched the most recent. I enjoyed Shanghai & The Bronx, but was sort of bored by Paraguay.

Yeah, I got the feeling they had a really hard time putting together enough material for Paraguay.

It's very strange how Vietnam has just quietly opened up over the last 20-25 years or so.

I was in Vietnam in 2000 when it was still just opening up and pretty raw. It was one of the travel highlights of my life. I have a feeling if I go back now it will be completely changed.

Yeah that's what I think too. Both are good tv and I'll still happily watch either. Bourdain is great at what he does. I wish there were more old No Reservations available on Netflix, there's only 25.

edit: I liked the Montreal Parts Unknown a lot btw. I'm way overdue to go there.

Where is this politics? This season has had none to speak of, (Tanzania, Vietnam, Paraguay, the Bronx, Shanghai). In the middle of last season, maybe Russia had some politics? Otherwise I have no clue what you guys are talking about.

The Sardinia No Reservations is extra awesome because you get to see his supercool wife and her family. She's also in the Rome one.

They showed the one where he goes back to Provincetown last night. It was great, but I only caught half of it.

I love all things Bourdain, but I pretty much hated the Michael Lee Chin part of Jamaica. Who knew Canadian billionaires could be so boring. Seriously, this was horrid.

I thought that was pretty obviously product placement. Which Bourdain spent the last third of the episode giving a big ****-you to. Especially when he said only Bond villains live like that right after Blackwell called himself a hero and as Bourdain was championing the local's anti-development cause.
