His gimmick is so tired.
Is he absolutely terrible? Or is it just me?
I hated his character at first, and then it grew on me, and now it's starting to wear on me again.

Could they perhaps be building it in to something more? Or is his over-excitability and enthusiasm as simple and overused as it seems?

I keep expecting his character to be "caught" with hookers and blow or something similar.

He is *literally* the worst character on the show right now

Sort of depends. Donna is the least likely to be funny, but she isn't generally annoying either as Chris can be.

But it's pretty much:
1. Ron Swansen
<GAP>
2. Andy
<GAP>
3. Whatever.

No, I agree, he's the worst on the cast. I'd prefer to have Mark back than more of Lowe's tiresome shtick.

I'm starting to think this episode wasn't quite the home run I hoped. For one, it was way overhyped as an "all-time classic" by the critics before it aired. For two, some of the Tammys stuff seemed rushed-- a two-parter or at least an extended episode would have played better. For three (and four), the Ben/720 stuff all seemed rehashed-- Ben's "helping adults act like adults" was pretty direct from "Jerry's Painting" and we already knew 720 was an absurdly unsustainable business given that we already knew about their ridiculous offices and that we saw Tom in the season premiere giving out 720 swag without having any real revenue or business model.

e720 was excellent political commentary while being hilarious every second

...none of which is to say I didn't really like the episode. But I was led to believe it would be an all-time classic and I don't think it met that standard.

Ben is a funnier version of Mark, he's unnecessary. I've always said Chris is weak. The only time I liked him was b/c of the interaction with another character, he was never the star of the scene. Last episode was great, but the Chris/Ann storyline was so takced on. They'll probably get back together just so they have a reason to have Ann around more. She's pretty pointless herself.

Well, initially Chris' storyline was supposed to wrap up after six episodes in S3, but they had the chance to sign on Lowe full time, and it's Rob Lowe, so how could you not?

Maybe if you hadn't heard that it would be an "all-time classic", you would have thought it was an all-time classic. I don't really think any episodes of anything are all-time classics. However, I will say this episode was definitely one of the best in the series (minus the sh*t Rob Lowe scenes). The E7Twenty scenes were all homers.

this week is really seemed like Rob Lowe became a caricature of himself, Michael Scott style

it was too much

Yeah Rob Lowe really is the weak link now.

I actually find Lowe's character really funny on the show myself and think he plays the role to near perfection with the material they have given him, but can see how people could find his character tiresome / repetitive / unfunny / dumb.

+1 I watch or dvr all of these, and also partake in the guilty pleasures of big bang theory and jersey shore on thurs in addition, plus usually cap it off with Daily Show and Colbert. I think I watch more on basic cable thurs night than the whole rest of the week combined. League is replacing Archer this week but I enjoy that show as well.

Fans of the show would, yeah, but if you're trying to build an audience and the chance to add a former leading-man type who's also done some successful TV work presents itself, you take it.

He sucks at least this ep, his whole contribution to this ep should been left on the cutting room floor.

Yeah this past ep they did take his shtick too far, but it never bothered me that much in the earlier eps. Also, I don't think you guys are so much taking issue with rob lowe's performance so much as the character they have written for him. I really don't see how he could deliver his lines any more perfectly, and even though I'll admit it can get stupid as in this past ep, on average it irks me less and is more funny than the "Andy is a complete moron" gimmick they use. I really like the job the actor who plays Andy does too and I think some of the clueless things he says are awesome, but I think they just make him too brain-dead in a number of scenes and by going to such an extreme it lessens the humor, and I think this is a similar thing that you people are taking issue with Chris about?

yeah agree. i dont have a problem with rob lowes performance of it. just not a great character. they shoulda just cut that stuff from last episode, wasnt funny or needed.

hopefully they have something great planned for him later.
