The H-bomb wasn't "the incident"

if the losties always set off the bomb, then the plane would have crashed in the s6 premier since the incident they created means the hatch was there and the same sequence of events would have happened again

they fact they did detonate the bomb means the Hatch was never built = no crash

Eh, I dunno. They did ultimately defeat Smokey using Desmond which is a pretty big victory. Sure, Jacob would have lived for another 500 yrs or whatever but like he said, "eventually he would have found a way to kill me." This way at least they destroyed Smokey and were able to pass on the torch.

I think the religious ending was somewhat predictable, but I thought that the whole H-bomb and the island being under water aspect made it seem more like a flash sideways rather than purgatory...

They left a ton of questions unanswered or unexplained and if anyone denies that then they are just in denial imo.

Also to those who said the producers made it clear that its all about the characters etc and not the questions people wanted answers to, then they should not have made every single preview for next weeks show this season saying "All your answers will be revealed" and in reality not reveal anything.

The mystery was what got a lot of people hooked and the producers rode that wave right up until the very end and then completely ignored the mythology and questions about the island and its background and people are just supposed to ignore that because the characters had a happy ending?

Kind of seems like a cop out imo

I mean, if the characters make the show, why even introduce Dogen, Lennon, Zoe, Ilana, etc. near the end?
because they help move the plot forward.

brining up all these and then saying pretty much it was all "magic", "special" doesn't necessary make a show complex. also, like someone else pointed out 90%+ of the people that followed this show did it for the mysteries of the island not for character development.

I don't get it. The show had smoke monsters, time travel, immortal characters, etc, etc...

Were people expecting answers that didn't involve mysticism or magic in some way? If so, what could these answers have possibly looked like?

no it wouldn't have because the plane was just in a realm of purgatory.

If I remember correctly, Juliette never said, "it worked." It was after she died and Sawyer made Miles "talk" to her grave. That's when Miles said, "she says, 'it worked.'"

So, yeah I don't know what difference that makes.

Exactly. I love how people who dislike the show have enough spare time to both watch it and post that it was a waste of time.

I even had hopes during the finale that as everyone gathered at the concert something awesome would happen that would blow my mind. But nope, the entire alternate reality thing turned out to be super disappointing.

He had no real relationship with Jack.
Besides his dad who went psycho...he closest connection would have been Locke.
On Jimmy Kimbel they pointed out that he's now grown up. Wouldn't have fit in the scene since the baby is still a baby.

the plane in s6 premier was irrelevant to everything on the island. it was imagination-land. the plane could have dive-bombed on egyptians, and it would have had no relevance to anything on the island at any point in time.

You said "what could it possibly look like"? There could be a resource on the island that Dharma was manipulating to create these advanced technologies, whatever. I mean one would expect Dharma to play a big role in the series instead of just being dropped from the picture. This would have been far more interesting ainec. You could explain a lot by going down this path.

I enjoyed the drama of the show as it kept the show somewhat interesting between the mysteries unraveling, however the drama was dependent on what was going on around them on the island which was really the core of the show. After that ending I felt so dirty and used for watching the show for so long, although I still somewhat enjoyed the ride. I'm a whore.

I enjoyed the finale. Thought it was fitting end for the characters.

This article is making me rage so hard http://www.stuff.co.nz/entertainment...he-Lost-finale

I want to find out who the idiot from the Associated Press is that wrote it.

+a bajillion. i had a few minor quips with the finale (namely boone and shannon...wtf was the point there) and with a few other things on the series as a whole, but the whole thing delivered. This was a 125 hr movie. There's going to be some missteps, but by and large Lost pwned hard.

all I know is if this season had no flash sideways/purgatory storyline throughout with the payoff at the end and just in its place spent more time in present time answering random LOST mysteries/minutia, and it ended with Jack dying on the island, Desmond being unconscious, and everyone else besides Hurley/Ben leaving...I would have ended up smashing my ****ing TV tonight.

it's a fantasy/sci-fi show. c'mon. Otherwise, "wtf, everyone would certainly die in the plane crash."

Boone was a fairly important moment in Jack's life and essentially set up/escalated the whole Locke vs. Jack rift. And Shannon was key for Sayid obv.
Nadia was an idea while Shannon was a reality for Sayid in terms of love.
