I still don't even get why they were brought there. Jacob's plans don't seem consistent. Bring people there because he was in danger. But to be in danger, he needed to have brought people there to kill him. I enjoyed a lot of parts of the show, and there were a lot of parts that were very lacking, but I tolerated it since it appeared to just be buildup for something grand. Unfortunately that payoff never happened.
The other point is there are so many major plotlines that were brought up as SUPER IMPORTANT and just abandoned. Aaron, Walt, the fertility issues, Alvar Hanso, etc... It's perfectly clear there was no plan for this, and this was just turds thrown at a wall just to make drama, but with no real thought behind it other than making things exciting at the time. That's my main beef.
little late to the party i know, but vagos, this is the main point that TC is making. sure they had a basic idea of what the island was and why they were going to be there, but to say they had it all planned out from s1 is ridiculous. there are so many loose ends and things that just feel out of place.
I also made the point TC made in the first paragraph. You are Jacob, you are in charge of stopping smokey from leaving the island, because if he leaves, everyone and everything dies (or becomes evil or wtf ever the writers claim happens when smokey leaves)
so pretend I'm jacob, and I'm told "hey, dont' let this guy leave, or the world ends"
ok, not that difficult. also, guess what derek, you get to make the rules too.
me "awesome, easy job"
Derek's Island rules
1. Smokey is not allowed to kill me
2. Smokey is not allowed to fly over water
3. Smokey is not allowed to bring people to the island without my consent.
4. Since I'm not ******ed i won't bring people to the island that can kill me and help smokey escape.
