I'd gladly pay several thousand dollars to be able to have my memory erased and watch it all over for the 1st time.

Love Breaking Bad, True Blood, Mad Men, Sons of Anarchy, etc but none really go where LOST went nor delve with the same issues.

I still don't even get why they were brought there. Jacob's plans don't seem consistent. Bring people there because he was in danger. But to be in danger, he needed to have brought people there to kill him. I enjoyed a lot of parts of the show, and there were a lot of parts that were very lacking, but I tolerated it since it appeared to just be buildup for something grand. Unfortunately that payoff never happened.

The other point is there are so many major plotlines that were brought up as SUPER IMPORTANT and just abandoned. Aaron, Walt, the fertility issues, Alvar Hanso, etc... It's perfectly clear there was no plan for this, and this was just turds thrown at a wall just to make drama, but with no real thought behind it other than making things exciting at the time. That's my main beef.

little late to the party i know, but vagos, this is the main point that TC is making. sure they had a basic idea of what the island was and why they were going to be there, but to say they had it all planned out from s1 is ridiculous. there are so many loose ends and things that just feel out of place.

I also made the point TC made in the first paragraph. You are Jacob, you are in charge of stopping smokey from leaving the island, because if he leaves, everyone and everything dies (or becomes evil or wtf ever the writers claim happens when smokey leaves)

so pretend I'm jacob, and I'm told "hey, dont' let this guy leave, or the world ends"

ok, not that difficult. also, guess what derek, you get to make the rules too.

me "awesome, easy job"

Derek's Island rules

1. Smokey is not allowed to kill me
2. Smokey is not allowed to fly over water
3. Smokey is not allowed to bring people to the island without my consent.
4. Since I'm not ******ed i won't bring people to the island that can kill me and help smokey escape.

this would be true if the creators themselves hadn't already said they had no real clue where they were going in the first couple of seasons.

not throwing Samuel/MIB into the light would have been a much better 1.

When did I (or anyone in this thread for that matter) ever say that they had it all planned out from s1???

TC already mentioned #4 on your list and I addressed it. Some people, or advanced race or aliens or whatever would probably stumble upon the island at some point. Yes, Jacob could have made the rules and just sat there for all of eternity with Smokey, but he decided to try and destroy him instead.

He probably figured he'd get sick of the job after a thousand years or so (which is fair), so instead of leaving the island at the mercy of Smokey, he spent those years not only trying to find the next candidates for the job, but also using said candidates to destroy his mistake.

My criticism at the time was that if they wanted JAcob/Smokey to be the center of the plot then they should have started earlier. But above said that Jacob was mentioned in S2. I guess they decided it around S4 and that's when it took shape.

BTW no emmy's for Lost. Every year on Monday morning the news reminds me of why I didn't watch the award show the night before.

Pretty silly to use LOST as the basis for lol emmys.
LOST won plenty of Emmys when it was good.

Didn't know where to post this but JJ Abrams next pilot was picked up by NBC. It stars Michael Emerson and Terry O'Quinn.

This may be the idea that was posted about awhile back.

Emerson and O'Quinn are next door neighbors and business partners in like middle america, husbands with families etc...but secretly they are both actually hit men.

This latest thread bump has just not lived up to my expectations. I keep hoping they were going to tie everything together but I still don't understand what all of the posters were thinking. Instead they just try to solve everything with some alternative-show deal.

Sons of Anarchy is a great show. Sure you have to suspend your disbelief that the whole crew isn't service 25 to life, but it works.

Here's why I like SoA more than lost. The writers know who watches the show and make it kick ass for those people.

Lost writers just mind**** us then give us a garbage ending.

Its fine if you dig it more than LOST but SoA is still pure and utter crap. Obviously the writers think 12 year olds who subscribe to Maxim are their audience.

Lost is a better show, but now that it's over I don't think about it like I do with the sopranos or the wire or deadwood, Lost is gone

u think about Sopranos and Deadwood? what exactly are u thinking about besides man those were good shows?
I don't think about any show years after they are gone other than wishing I could watch more episodes because they were so enjoyable.

I view LOST more in the mindset of there is now no show that delivers the same wow/enjoyment/mind**** on TV.
Dexter is fun and all but if I miss a episode who cares.
I think I get way more out of a episode of Mad Men/Breaking Bad than I did out of Sopranos....but its been awhile since Sopranos so I could be just forgetting.

I still think about The Shield and how awesome it was, especially how it ended. When I think of Lost now the only thought that comes into my head is "wow, what a stupid ******** ending that was."

They had a chance to cement it as one of the greatest shows ever and basically ****ed it up in the last season. Given the opportunity to erase my memory and go back and watch the whole thing again, I'd probably pass now. Saying that before the last couple episodes would have sounded crazy to me, but not after the abortion that was that show's ending.
