Really? You still want to know where the Dharma air drop came from or where Henry Gale came from?

Didn't Jacks Dad say something like

"There is no here" or "There is no when" or something similarly confusing.

Meaning, all of those people might have died at different times?

Haven't read any posts yet....

The way I interpreted it is, that Jack died and that is his own personal heaven. Everything that happened happened. Hurley and Ben are still on the island and will continue to live for whoever knows how long. The people on the plane with Lapidus are still alive etc; I'm thrilled that they decided to keep the past unchanged.

I'm pretty satisfied. They left a lot of doors opened, but they made it clear the show stars and ends with Jack. It was his story, the rest were just supporting characters.

Time doesn't matter. Everyone on Lepidus' plane died (because every human being dies). But maybe 50 years later.

That seemed to be confirmed by the Hurley/Ben conversation where they seem to acknowledge working together on the island for some period of time as #1 and #2.
vg point.

Yup, the on-island stuff happened. When everybody died, they were transplanted to their on-island selves in limbo. Once everybody joined them, they were able to move on. I like it. Unfortunately, Kate should've transplanted to first trip to island self.

They died much later than Jack did, but as Christian said, the timing doesn't matter. They're just all there because they were alone and were all brought together by the island.

The main thing I'm concerned with right now is the significance of Ben not going in, despite clearly having history with Hurley on island, post-Lost.
Why did they all need to go to Heaven (?) together, though?

Yes. Exactly this. The Ajira flight got off the island fine and those people probably lived their lives out just as Hurley and Ben lived theirs out on the island.

Yeah, the first two hours were pretty decent and brought a lot of the old feel back. The 'shipper pleasing stuff was overly lame, but whatever. The ending, just plain awful. I could have done without the entire flash sideways. It served no purpose at all other than being a red herring and making it so they could be lazy in writing.

Were Richard or Ana Lucia in the ending scene? If not, why weren't they?

Of those of you understanding what's going on, take a shot:

What is the significance of Ben not going into the church?

I am kind of the opposite. I thought that while I was enjoying the finale, they wouldn't have a chance of trying it up without making me hate the show.

I liked it, although I really am not sure of how all the dots are connected.

Thinking about it more, I like the ending.

I'm on board with the island being real life, but the "sideways timeline" being purgatory-ish in that everyone had to stay there until the whole oceanic group were together at which point they could move on.

Although I'm unhappy about a lot of the magical devices like "The light" and such.

That was easily the best episode of LOST ever. I can't believe it's over. I'm a grown man and I just cried almost the entire time. The entire episode (/show) was amazing, especially the ending.

What a journey!

The alt timeline is "purgatory" for lack of a better word, but they couldn't leave it until they all remembered their actual lives on island.

I thought it was an awesome episode. All of those flash backs just made me remember how awesome this show was for 6 years. I've never looked forward to a show more than I did with this one, I'm really going to miss it. It's like finishing a book that took you 120 hours to read over a 6 year span.

He's not ready to move-on to the after life. Just like some dead people were caught up on the island (which is why you didn't see Walt's Dad) Ben had to work through his issues from real life before moving on.

It goes well with the Purgatory-ish theory.
