Still on board but will be disappointed if it turns out to be Fight Club. It's unnecessary.

A female coworker walks by not 2 feet from the stranger and never even glances at the guy sitting there not dressed like he belongs.

The theory did not get stronger with that scene. It was confirmed with that scene and the bar scene reinforces that. Note the bartender looked at Elliot askance, like he was thinking "this guy's a nut".

You don't need any intermediate scenes to confirm this. The inference should be automatic.
That's what I said? Prior to that set of scenes it was ambiguous, then those scenes made the theory stronger, but also dumber by putting scenes in where Mr Robot is definitely fake but also that Elliot must have more aggressive delusions offscreen. That's why they didn't show them renting the hotel room and getting into an argument about whether the room would be for 4 adults or 3.

Like, Mr Robot isn't real, and the audience knows that. But the first few episodes, Elliot's interactions with him were generally one on one in situations where ELLIOT could plausibly think Mr Robot is real, where none of the other characters would get weirded out by a dude holding one side of a conversation.

I have been pretty impressed with the series so far. Originally, I was planning on binge watching, but there is too much chatter in forums/threads I regularly monitor.

1.) Did USA hire the guy who used to pick awesome programming for HBO?

2.) While I didn't make the ZOMG it's obvious Mr. Robot is not real leap some itt did, my Spidey Senses were going haywire when Mr. Robot was just chilling at a desk at AllSafe; ditto the bar scene.

Which brings me to:
3.) I will be disappoint if the show is simply Fight Club w/ Linux.

I am holding out hope the show is smart enough to avoid 3.)

Agreed that the dream sequence doesn't count. Another plausible point is that Mr. Robot also represents a subconscious part of Elliot's personality, so in the motel room when Mr. Robot yell at everybody to just leave, and they leave, that doesn't mean they see him, but that's Elliot taking on that personality to lash out.

From my perspective, nothing at all hints that Mr. Robot is real. The black guy has to be real, the fat guy talks to him.

The scene where Mr Robot yells at the people to leave was sort of cheating. The black guy talks, Mr Robot talks, and then the black guy says something and leaves, but he doesn't really RESPOND to Mr Robot or anything he said.

This was my take on it as well.

Fairly sure it should be more titling to the "nit" audience that Angela and Ollie are talking about this scheme in front of a computer in an environment that has already been shown to be under surveillance.

I don't think the show's boring, but it needs to start shoring up focus. It seems to be meandering. They're trying to do something very interesting on TV, but if all the fan theories (or any) are correct, the show's going to end up being wildly derivative of a lot of stuff. Fly's comment about dorm rooms is pretty funny to me (think 2000 would put the creator as a senior in college).

The writer just said he has this planned as a 4-5 season series, there is no way that they don't confirm to the viewer that Mr. Robot is his imagination this season. So there'll be plenty of story after it.

This episode was weird and quite filler-ish overall, but as a one-off it was okay. Lets hope they don't do this type of stuff again tho .

Mr Robot is definitely not real. I'm not even sure if it really needs discussion anymore.

Show was okay, but definitely felt like a filler episode. Not much advanced at all.

Also drugs look like fun.

I've liked the lead since the pacific and christian slater is so good.

only thing I thought was ridic was when he was ranting about society and they flashed a pic of steve jobs, lance armstrong, bill cosby n tom brady.
some of these are not like the others.
Yeah you have to feel for Armstrong there. What did he ever do that was so bad?

That depends on your definition of "real". The delusions are definitely real and therefore effectual on Elliot and his choices and actions.

Chuckle at the Steel Mountain reference. Our company irl uses Iron Mountain for backups.

Also unlikely magtape would melt at 95 degrees. At a prior job, we used magtape a lot. In winter the a/c would sometimes overload and freeze up and I'm sure it got north of 95 in there. I would sweat like a buffalo and every once in awhile go outside in the snow to cool off.

This show is pretty great but I find the music rather tilting. It is just a hacky/much worse version of all of Trent Reznor's recent film scores (which are great).

I thought it was 100% Mr. Robot was a delusion copying Fight Club and no one else, but now it's the white girl hacker and Mr. Robot? It seems to me like every other episode we are going to think someone else is another figment of his imagination until the season finale....

Mr Robot can be both real and a delusion. Maybe sometimes he's actually there and sometimes he's a hallucination?
