Anyone else watching or watched this? I just watched the first 5 episodes. While there aren't many horror TV shows out there, this is easily at the top of the list for me. That 5th episode... damn. A+++

Finished it after a week.

please read if you haven't seen it yet.
when I first watched the first 2 eps I felt the internet was overrating it. However, after getting deepre in teh series I said to my self, we do not have quality HORROR shows lie this, we just dont. and the reason being is its hard to do, its hard to develop and actual semi decent cohesive plot, characters that arent completely sucky and still have some errieness or horror to it. This show, while not great, is one of the best shows ive seen that puts HORROR and PLOT together and tries to make it a series.

overall while not terriffic, its actually a worthy watchm while not for everyone, it definitely does horror and plot with some depth the best in awhile

Yep I just watched all 10 episodes in one day. No regrets - amazing show. The ending wasn't my favorite but it didn't really downgrade how good everything else was, and I was still satisfied with the ending they went with.

Something I picked up on after the first few episodes - there's a lot of ghosts that pop up in the background of at least a few scenes in each episode. Some are a lot easier to see than others. I spotted maybe one an episode but there's a thread on reddit where people have spotted something like 5+ in every episode. Some of them I don't know how you could possibly see unless you watched with brightness cranked way up lol.

Watched the first episode last night. I really don't understand the good reviews this is getting. It follows the standard formula of 90% of horror shows/movies of the last 30 years. There was nothing original or exceptional about it.

[x] creepy old house
[x] people seeing ghosts
[x] said ghosts turning into super ugly scary things while dramatic scary music plays, then the scene abruptly ends

The most frightening thing about this show is how bad the acting is. The horror genre has become as formulaic as romance novels. But I guess there's a reason why romance novels are consistent sellers. Some poeple like predictability. To each their own.

The plot/character development is what sets it apart for me. Being a TV series allows the characters to be really fleshed out

I didn't love it at first but it just kept getting better. First and last eps were meh, but pretty much everything else is solid. Def very well done and worth watching.

7 episodes in and it feels like it peaked at episode 5. 6 and 7 were both good, but 5 was incredible. The last two episodes seemed like it was starting to run out of gas a bit. They are building up to the big scene but it is starting to drag just a little.

really good show. agree that first 5 eps are way stronger than last 10 but thats how it usually happens with horrors. The end always leaves to be desired...

Episode 6 where they are all in the funeral home was probably one of the best episodes I've seen of any show ever. Just from a direction standpoint and the way the emotions were conveyed. Loved the camera work.

Liked it, ran out of steam in the last few episodes. Way too many long monologues imo, they got kind of dull. Hated the mother, she seemed miscast. Both dads were pretty bad too. Kids were all excellent.

Just finished this. I have tried to watch a ton of horror TV shows but I've only really enjoyed 2. American Horror Story S1 and this. These are the only ones that for me were succesfull in building a cohesive plot & world that did not become ridiculous or uninteresting before the end.

I agree the horror aspect of the show is often quite cheap and relies too heavily on jump scares, but the scenes are generally given sufficient time to build and still work out nicely overall, though the jump scares grew annoying after a while. Also a lot of great scary scenes that fit more in psychological horror.

Strongly disagree that the acting was bad, some actors are bad/mediocre (past mom/dad, future Steve), but the majority are great.

I loved the plot and characters and the combination of a solid drama with horror. Made me think of Les Revenants a bit, but I liked this more. People who haven't seen Les Revenants and liked this, give it a shot. It's a French show about a little town where suddenly a bunch of people show up who have been dead for years. Les Revanants is less horror & more drama than the Haunting of Hill House, but it's a solid show. Don't watch the US remake.

Spoiler only for people who've seen the whole season (Haunting of Hill House):

Spoiler:
I was quite surprised how in E9 they gave the young twins some really messed up dialogue about how their life was going to be worthless if her mother didn't save them. I thought that was some really dark stuff to give to 6 year old kids . It was one of my favorite scenes of the show though.

Spoiler only for people who've seen the whole season (Haunting of Hill House) and have seen AHS S1:

Spoiler:
Kinda weird that I love AHS S1 & this and that the "supernatural" aspect is basicly the same . I also did not see it coming until halfway in the final episode, despite it being quite obv in hindsight.
