What really bothered me was the guys getting a little bent out of shape for having to kick up 100k/month to Pablo in exchange for being made the top guys in the Medellin Cartel. Many guys many rungs down the ladder from them were making millions a month. It seemed like it was just a token amount that was more about respect. Pablo had billions, his two direct underlings were likely making 10s of millions per month. The whole thing just seemed ridiculous to me.

Have to agree on the Murphy character being a weakspot. The scenes where he intimitades the lorry driver and flips out at the taxi driver were lol unbelievable.

Reading up on Escobar it seems they haven't left alot of meat for a season 2, should have made a longer 1 season show imo.
Yeah knowing a decent amount about Escobars story I was shocked to see the season end like that. No idea how they are going to make a whole season out of whats left unless they plan to wing it with lots of new stuff, which I don't have a problem with necessarily.

They may shift the focus from Escobar to other members of the cartel or focus on the Cali cartel, etc. Will be interesting to see how they choose to move forward.

They also can start with the really beginning. Before the drugs, maybe even childhood

Just watched all this in a couple of days. Really great, I'm surprised this thread isn't bigger, but I guess lolsubtitles.

I'm a bit sad they started so late on, I guess it was to involve an American character straight away maybe. I'm also not sure how they're going to fill a whole season with what's left.

One thing that really struck me when I listened to Killing Pablo, which I didn't really get a sense of when watching, was the extent and ferocity of his war against Colombia, e.g.
Quote:
From August to December 1989, 88 car bombs exploded in major Colombian cities, killing thousands of Colombians. The bombs were placed at banks, offices, hotels, malls, the Cartel even put a bomb aboard a plane, killing 107 passengers.

They did show the plane bombing, so I guess that's covered well enough.

Just finished. I thought it was OK, but didn't live up to the hype. Outside of Pablo, no other actor or character stood out to me.

I think it would have been better as a one-shot, 10-episode story. I'm not going to watch them chase him around for 10 more.

I'd love for season 2 to have a lot of flashbacks expanding known stuff from s1. Thread covered all of my opinions already, I guess, even though this dude is my favorite

Nasty, ugly ****, excellent cast. I think that's a flattering pic of him actually.

2 episodes in and I'm hooked, this is amazing. Guy playing Pablo is top notch.

Im only through 3-4 eps, but for some reason this show can't hold my attention. The narrative seems loose and it seems to fit more on the procedural side of the spectrum. For example:

- the first ep covering Escobar's rise to power. Shouldnt this have been like half the first season?
- the prostitute potentially being an informant for the DEA who I dont think is seen after she was kidnapped.
- an episode set up of: Escobar wants to be in government but by the end of the episode he has to resign.

It seems pretty shallow to me. That being said there are some good moments and I do love crime shows. So its probably a 7/10.

I guess it works with what NFLX is though. Very easy to put on in the background while I am doing something else (although the Spanish subtitles make this a little harder).

Yeah it's pretty strange that they basically went through 80-90% of the material (timeline-wise) in the first season. I too think they should have spent wayyyy more time covering the early stuff.

But that's partially because I don't want this show to end, I loved every second of it and besides Fargo it was by far my favourite show of last year. I'd rate it a 9/10 for sure.

I would love it if they departed from the real events in S2 and just let Escobar become the king of South America or whatever

Well, Season One ends just right about where "Killing Pablo" begins. There is still a lot of story to tell from both sides.
