yeah kind of weird the DEA agent guy won that part. He is indeed the weak link. I think they put a bit too much stock into the physical resemblance with the real life guy.

Am I the only one who didn't root for Pablo? I thought he was just too much of an ass but I like how they portray him.

Spoiler:
I rarely feel someone deserves a death by torture as much as Gustavo and I was very excited when the special forces stormed the prison but disapponited when Pablo did not die. I really hate his wife, his son and mother too. Def in for cheering for the DEA and the Cali cartel

I think quite a few young watchers would be rooting for Pablo. yay money and drugs, ftp etc.

Spoiler:
I feel they have portrayed him as a bit of a pussy really, which he may really have been. Others do his dirty work, cold ***** that guy with a pool stick and just beats on him. Not once have we seen him toe to toe, even playing fields with anyone. Always some surprise attack using his henchman or innocents (plane bomb etc)

Will there be a 2nd season?

In real life Pablo dies shortly after what happened at the end of season 1, correct?

yes. second season announced.

no. lots more story to tell. If you matched this story up with "Killing Pablo" you would be exactly half way through the book.

Is this a ****ing joke? He's not an MMA fighter, he's a cartel boss. The whole point is to have others do your dirty work. You might as well say Obama is a pussy because he didn't storm bin Laden's compound himself.

Take it as you want.
He got pissy from that political debacle.
He held grudges
Hes acting like a fat kid that got bullied in school and now he wants the power.

Weird comparison with Obama....

If you think, just because someone gets others to kill for money, and convince innocents to unintentionally blow up a plane makes them tough, then I think you are wrong. It looked as though he was portrayed as a spineless cu nt.

Gustauv was a hardass, if you wanted a comparison

I didn't say Pablo was a badass. I was just pointing how silly it is to expect the boss to do the dirty work.

I feel like this is how the real Escobar would be too. Ruthless, killer and psycho, but also able to make you feel like he really loves you, cares for you and has a heart.

It's hard to explain, but yea, great acting by him. Blond police guy is average, brown police guy is ok. The rest of the cast kinda fades away as soon as Pablo is on the screen anyway.

may be some confusion here.

I dont know really what he was (he may very well have been a brawler his early life and shot people point blank), I just feel the directors / producers or whatever has made him look like like a pissy kid

Despite his representations stating he came from poverty, Pablo was upper-middle class. His father was a farmer and his mother was a well-respected school teacher.

He attended school until he dropped out in high school. Pablo did not have a history of direct violence; he always preferred to scheme instead.

I think he was portrayed properly. Most accounts have him being dopey all the time - he slept until 1 or 2 in the afternoon and was stoned all day. A lot of people remark about how he rarely seemed excited or lost his cool - especially when there was a lot of action.

Legendary drug lord Pablo Escobar lost $2.1 billion in cash each year — and it didn't matter

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/legend...175200772.html

"Pablo was earning so much that each year we would write off 10% of the money because the rats would eat it in storage or it would be damaged by water or lost," Escobar wrote.

"That would be about $2.1 billion, given how much money he was reportedly making."

"According to Roberto Escobar, the cartel spent an estimated $2,500 a month on rubber bands needed to hold stacks of bills together."

That's a lot of rubber bands. lol

don't know if it's been posted, but:

he's on the show, right? I think they gave his role to that psycho, poison.
Spoiler:
he was involved in the avianca flight case and the killing of the president.

Just a little bit. Still, he had a lot of supporters among them.

By the way, like a lot of people here I couldn't stand the Murphy character. Why was he even put in like this, to fill the white male **** yeah USA quotum? In real life he didn't even arrive in Colombia until a couple of days before Escobar went to 'prison', which would have kept him out of 90% of this season. Peña would have been well capable of carrying that part of the story.

they probably thought the American audience needed someone to identify with, as stupid as it may seem.
