You could always learn to speak Spanish. Heh. I get you, though. When I watch Narcos, I'm cognizant of having to choose to do it at a time when I can give it my full attention.

I haven't felt the urge to watch the latest for some reason. What are peoples thoughts on it?

I loved it - Took me a couple episodes to get familiar with the characters and which cartels they belonged to. Here is a good little slideshow that shows who's who and their cartel affiliation. Don't read the summaries below the cartel affiliation.

8 eps in and I think this is the first subpar Narcos season so far. Not terrible by any means, but it's really not good at all.

Not sold at all on the writing mostly. Scoot McNairy is a significant upgrade as a lead character from Holbrook, but his character is poorly written.

+1

Felt like it was the weakest season since Season 1 (assuming this is season 5). Still loved it though and binged the whole thing in a couple of days.

They seemed to take some pretty serious liberties as well. I realize the show is partially fiction, but for example

(E10 spoiler)

Spoiler:
That's not how Gallardo got arrested at all. They made it look like the cartel turned on Felix because he was too greedy, when in reality they apparently didn't turn on him at all but instead he kept running everything from prison and still remained the boss after his arrest? See wiki

I don't mind them taking liberties or making up characters (for example McNairy's character didn't exist at all in any capacity), but it seems strange to change such major details about the main, real-life characters stories. There was something else along the same lines too that bothered me, but I already forgot what it was.

Edit: Bunch of unmatching stuff about El Chapo too. Am I being too nitty or is it really weird they chose to fabricate the whole main storyline of the show instead of using the real one which IMO would have been more interesting as well?

Another E10 spoiler

Spoiler:
By the way, this is what actually happened with Guadalupe (from wiki):

Quote:
That same year, the Arellano Félix brothers sent the Venezuelan drug trafficker Enrique Rafael Clavel Moreno to infiltrate Palma's family and seduce his wife Guadalupe Leija Serrano.[63] After convincing her to withdraw US$7 million from one of Palma's bank accounts in San Diego, California, Clavel beheaded her and sent her head to Palma in a box.[64] It was known as the first beheading linked to the drug trade in Mexico.
This one I can understand a bit better, but given all the violence in the show, why not use it? They also made it look like it was Felix who ordered that, when apparently he had nothing to do with it

Yeah that last one would've been a much better scene imo. The Guadalupe actress is hot

I really enjoy this show. Wish it could just go on forever.

Spoiler:
what are the chances Amado is still alive?

Spoiler:
Been reading about it. Apparently the doctors who did the surgery were killed shortly thereafter, but it could have been retaliation vs. covering it up. Couple people confirmed the body was his, but there were a few stories of people saying he was still alive, even a person claiming he was flipped by the DEA.

Watched it all. This was a pretty solid and enjoyable show from the first episode to its last. I have no idea why they did the Mexican journalist woman's narration in English instead of Spanish, it was super tilting.

Scoot McNairy was the best DEA side lead by a big margin (not counting Pedro Pascal).

ya this was a good season. it was kinda confusing bc it went back in time and the Cali guys were still running things.

anyway, I liked the guy who played the Mexican cop. he played the desperation and depression well.

From what I understood this was the last season of "Narcos: Mexico" but not necessarily the last season of narcos. Would not be surprised at all if we get "Narcos: Chapo" even as netflix already has a chapo series with different actors. Narcos brand/franchise is to strong to give up on I believe.
