Re: Mr. Robot

Fantastic episode, confused how this episode happened and there's 4 episodes left, though.

Are they going to introduce someone from the Dark Army that's above WR? I feel like that would be kinda lame.

Or the woman that walked off during the Price/WR meeting is going to seize control?

Or the whole Deus group is somehow involved with WR's secret project?

I guess it's significant that Elliott received details on WR's secret project this episode. Maybe Elliot or 1 of his personalities is seduced by the secret project and he tries to finish it & Elliott becomes the baddie?

I'm so confused.

Re: Mr. Robot

Great show and episode. . From previews it looks like White Rose continues on.

Lots of questions remain for me at least

So Elliot's mother, Mr Robot and Elliot as a child meeting were in a high rise conference room to discuss our Elliot or was it some other version of Elliot ? Do they need to tell him something of key importance but he's not ready? Elliot hasn't been awake? Seems like we are still missing a key part of the whole Elliot story.

White Rose seemed to think Angela was still alive? White Rose lost her close companion in the past and may be obsessed on correcting that in some strange way, maybe science fiction style. In what sense could Angela be alive? What is that machine that needs to be destroyed? Angela once said she believed in it and saw it work. I think. Is Angela going to come back somehow?

Seems like there will be a wildly creative ending to this series.

Re: Mr. Robot

Both the opening scene and everything about the project continue to be little more than a tease.

There might be some clues in the opening scene. There was a lot of dialogue that will surely make more sense after the series.
Everything about WR’s project is the same dry handjob tease we’ve been getting since season 2

While I continue to love the show, nothing in this most recent episode can dissuade me from thinking that there is non-zero probability of a "St. Elsewhere" ending

1/ I think the meeting was just a way to show the thoughts of Mr. Robot in a presentable way to the viewer.
Clearly, there is something huge about Elliott we don't know yet, there's something more than the abuse. It could be as simple as Elliott's father's death being linked to WR's machine (which seems obvious, but I don't think Elliott knows this?) or it could be that Elliott actually killed his dad in some way? Or 1000s of other things.

2/ It seems obvious that WR's machine has something to do with either AI/VR, multiverses, time travel or uploading human consiousness into a computer. All these scenarios could result in Angela being alive in WR's world view, after she completes her machine. I think Angela is dead and we wont see her again in a real way. If WR's machine actually ends up working, we might see some sort of form of her?

I think this is true. I think that there are also still Elliott time gaps after 5/9 for which we never got a good explanation? And some scenes between Tyrell & Elliott that don't make sense? It could be that prime Elliott took over at that moment, and it'll be revealed that he (=prime Elliott) is more responsible for 5/9 than we know.

Yup the only thing that I'm really hating this season is that the plot is advancing to the endgame without us having any real answers on WR/DA's true intentions. I have faith in Esmail given everything we've been presented, but he's deff crazy enough to **** it all up, too.

This show could end up being BB/The Wire/TD S1-level for me personally (my favorite shows), but if everything falls apart it could end up being as bad as Dexter was.

Re: Mr. Robot

I predict Elliot (or "prime Elliott" or w/e) will help WR to finish her plans with the ominous machine, possibly against his will, or because WR or Angela convinced him. Whatever the reasons, he might ultimately end up foiling said plans though. Depends on what this thing actually does.

Re: Mr. Robot

This is starting to feel like it will have some sort of a LOST-style ending (not the ending of LOST, but a LOST-like event).

For example, the series could end with Elliot turning on WR's machine and there is a huge bright white light, cut to credits.

Or he turns on WR's machine and he wakes up right where we started in S1.

Re: Mr. Robot

Okay just how much money do you think each person got? Did we ever get a number as to how much money the gang "liberated" from the Deus Group? For some reason, I want to say $400 billion.

Say half the population of Earth has ECorp wallets. I'm being conservative, I think. That's roughly 3.5 billion people.

That's only $114 for each person.

If it's only, say, the population of the U.S. - ~300M people - that comes out to roughly $1333.

What am I missing?

Was it more than 400 billion?

They used the word "trillions" in a newscast, I think. Still, one of the dumbest and unrealistic things I've seen on the show. I brushed it off quickly but was a decent misstep imo.

"ran it through a tumbler so its untraceable"

i was surprised at how dumb this quote was, after their track record of being tech-smart. i would explain but it would take me too long

i enjoyed the robin hood part and giving everyone their $. for that i can suspend my disbelief.

Even if you're off by a factor of 10, it's not life changing money for all of those people. Maybe a few who are in a bind, but not like what they showed.

This is from Reddit but check the tweet above: "My ******* neighbor just rolled up in a g-d F-150 with monster tires."

Re: Mr. Robot

Also what the actual f**k that they're pretending the (some of the) richest 400 people in the world keep 100% of their assets in a bank account (not to mention, one single obscure bank)....

I'm enjoying the show but this hugely important plot point is just complete nonsense. I mean 10% of their assets would be completely unbelievable too, but within the realm of suspended disbelief, this is just fairy tale stuff.

And that's before you get to the fact that people are getting between $100 and $1500 and we're calling it an unprecedented revolution. I read a review on TV AV club that said "people getting life changing money here is actually realistic, a billion dollars is a huge number that is hard for people to grasp."

Re: Mr. Robot

Aren't we supposed to believe Deus group is a group of people that exploited the world through various illegal schemes on the back of the regular population? And that they used Cyprus bank to store & launder this money? And that their "legit" holdings are not at Cyprus bank? Don't forget Mr. Robot's "universe" is not ours, it just looks a lot like ours.

The reaction from the people we saw didn't exactly look like the reactions for people that got a huge amount of money. A few $k (like 5k) doesn't seem too crazy if you play a bit with the figures that could be realistic in the Mr. Robot universe.

Yes it will have an impact on inflation, but people will still be way better off and their purchasing power will increase. They will also gain by taking away power of the corrupt Deus group.

I imagine that the Deus group is filled with people of which we have a few examples in our world, the best example probably being Putin. It's all obviously just random speculation, but it's clear he's extremely corrupt & wealthy, I remember reading "credible sources" that guessed he was actually the wealthiest individual in the world.

I certainly agree this episode was a bit silly and required a lot of suspense of disbelief, but didn't bother me too much. I can accept that it makes sense in the Mr. Robot universe and don't think too hard on it .

1) Did we really see life changing reactions? I actually thought people were just pleasantly surprised. People were even looking confused at Darlene when she was yelling, it looked like they were thinking "OK calm down, it's not like we're rich"? Or was that just me.

2) The F150 tweet is silly and I don't understand why they included that, but obviously if you give everyone in USA an amount as "small" as $2.000 - $5.000, there's plenty of people that are going to use it as (a part of) a down payment to get a badass car.

3) Money isn't being duplicated, it's being redistributed (in a rather special way). Essentially you could compare what happened in Mr. Robot to a very extreme version of what happens in various EU "socialist" economies but is regulated by the tax man. It doesn't destroy economies. Obviously what happened in Mr. Robot is ridiculously different, I just use it as a counterpoint to the tweet that basicly says "lol if you redestribute wealth lunches would be $10k", which is equally ridiculous.

This is a better framing, as my motivation is to enjoy the program.

However, if it is strictly some subset of illegal / hidden funds, there's no math that gets you to 5k/pp.

I think the strongest reach case is that it was around 400B (as someone suggested IIT). If 4B people have the wallet, then it's $100 each. Maybe only 2B have it and it was $200! Hopefully some Africans installed the app in time

There's obviously more to it. What I found unrealistic & the stupidest thing of the episode, was Dom & Darlene buying it was a coincidence.

Imma guess by how the episode ended, and from some good speculation on reddit
