OK I was wrong about Vera's purpose for his return .

Tbh I thought the final act would be Elliott's third personality being revealed as an angry ruthless character that grabs Vera's gun and kills Vera, since Vera is the same type of piece of **** that Elliott's father used to be.

Vera to Elliot :"Once you’ve weathered a storm like yours, you become the storm. You hear me? You are the storm, and it’s the rest of the world that needs to run for cover.”

Reminiscent of one of the the great lines in TV history: Breaking bad, Walter White: "I am not in danger, Skyler. I am the danger! "

It was at that point it dawned on me that nobody had spoken since that line in the car. Still haven't stopped thinking about how brilliant that was.

This show is brilliant in so many aspects. I'm going to miss it.

haha vn.

unpopular opinion i guess, i didnt enjoy it. reddit was sayin it deserves emmys and its the goat show because of this episode. lol

the ending and the reveal saved it from being a woat episode. the first 90% was just ridiculous. it would never happen irl and it was boring.

overall the season has been good, alot better than i expected after ep 1.

thanks

That episode got 10.0 with 5200 votes on IMDB. Wow.

Yeah this is absurd.
I thought they were overdramatizing for comedy for most of it. The reveal was nearly literally pulling teeth.
And the reveal sucked. It’s like “the island’s powers come from this magic river we never showed you until the last season”. Okay... we didnt really need an explanation for this phenomenon but fine. You do you

i better watch it again i thought it was a great episode but...

i thought Elliot and the Doc were acting ? my opinion...

i thought Elliot is too strong minded to open up like that to his enemy. So he played a game to get the Doc talking ....tell me about your father...etc so that it would seem realistic and then giving them the chance to escape or else theyre both dead.....

i was sure thats what it was but obvs wrong

I would like that! But no i dont think it’s the case

I do think the revelation makes Elliot less relatable. To me anyway.
Why cant our protagonist just hate society and not want to talk to people?

elaborate plz, specifically how the lost final season where the writers were making **** up as they go, compares to esmail's work here, who has laid the foundation for this reveal since literally the first scene of the show

yes we didn't need the explanation (at least the way it was executed) in lost, but this reveal was necessary to fill in the gaps regarding what makes elliot tick, why mr. robot exists in the first place, and why both him and mr. robot have proven to be such unreliable narrators, leaving the audience constantly questioning everything they are being shown through elliot/mr. robot's eyes'

if you're not a fan of the plot itself, that's another story and completely subjective, but this is not a 'lost' situation ime

I love this show, but I'm not sure that completely worked for me. Sexual abuse is a tired trope in drama.

But it was one hell of an acted scene by all involved.

Do we think that was the last we see of Mr. Robot?

Sam took a Law & Order SVU episode and dragged it through four seasons

I don't know how you can get this far with Mr. Robot and not love that episode, it brings an over-the-top sense of drama relative to the shows norm, breaks with the regular format, the dialogue is fantastic and the execution leaves nothing to be desired.

The show would have done better with this sense of creativity in s2 as the plot gets slightly ridiculous and it needs something to transcend it's own idiocies.

Good for Esmail I say, he's brought the show back up to the levels of the pilot with this episode, the pilot being the best episode in the whole series.

well said, i'd say my top 3 eps in no order are pilot, eps1.3da3m0ns.mp4 (with the detox and amazingly shot dream sequence) & this last one

this last ep was also amazingly shot, using the 2.35:1 aspect ratio, and the camera setup along with the 5 act structure (mirroring the 5 stages of grief) making it feel like we're watching a broadway show going back and forth between the rooms

Another amazing episode, but Esmail is going to make us wait until the final episode before we know this all makes any sense or not .

My faith is increasing though, either Esmail is an amazing writer and he can make it seem like everything was planned from the beginning while he makes it up as he goes along, or he's an amazing writer and he had everything planned from the beginning.

if you’re an esmail fan u gotta check out homecoming on amazon prime with julia roberts

also can’t wait for briarpatch with rosario dawson

another underrated oldie but goodie by him is the movie comet with fiona from shameless (his wife)

I thought Homecoming was quite disappointing tbh; I finished it because I felt "plot committed" but by the end was really eager to just get it over with.

I love Mr. Robot, though, and that's enough for me to give Briarpatch a shot.
